This is a great spot with a lot of options. It’s hard to find gluten-free options in the UP, but they had gluten-free bread with vegan options. They made sure to ask what my dietary restrictions were so they could prepare the food separately. Highly recommend. There is a very fun book selection, too.

The best meal we had in Munising! We had the Italian, Muffuletta, Chicken Bacon, and Pulled Pork Sandwiches. Each one was packed with flavor and toasted to perfection. Each sandwich comes with their house made pretzels which are dusted with spices and garlic and are spectacular. The sauce they serve to dip the pretzels tastes ranch based and is the perfect complement. If you don’t like pretzels, you can swap it for a bag of chips.
For gluten free options, they have bread that is prepared in a separate area for celiacs. The pulled pork sandwich was safe and delicious.
A big pro of this place is that you can order your sandwich and have it delivered to the connected brewery and get a drink. A perfect way to spend lunch after taking a pictured rocks cruise or hike!

Sam was a delight and so accommodating to my wife’s gluten allergy. All of his fried fish is GF. By the way, his location has moved to the Midway General Store. It is a 15 minute drive from the location posted in Google, but definitely worth it.

4 stars. Pasties-meat and veggies baked in pastry-are big in this area, assuming from the mining/coal history. Small shop with menu of five pasties on our visit. The traditional is a beef/pork blend with numerous vegetables including rutabaga which is rarely seen on menus. Other choices were chicken, veggie, breakfast, & gluten free. The pastry around these softball size meals was light and flaky, barely holding the filling. Best to eat with fork. The filling is reminiscent of a pot pie, but without the “gravy”. Chicken had a spice profile with something creating a level of heat-cayenne?-that was unexpected and took away from my enjoyment unfortunately. Beef/pork was delicious and imo a better choice. If you visit here, there is (at least during our time) a superstar menu item hiding in plain sight. On the counter they sell large square slices of homemade carrot cake. We enjoy this almost everywhere we go and regularly at home. I thought I had found the best anywhere at a bakery in So Cal but I can say unequivocally that this is THE BEST I have ever had!!!
Moist, herbaceous, loaded with carrot, lots of sweet coconut, and just the right amount of raisins. Topped with a perfect portion of homemade frosting, with cream cheese I believe. Added a slice to our original lunch visit and the next day had to go get another slice. If you like carrot cake, on a visit here or even if you have to take a side trip to get here, it’s a 100% do not miss imo.

Highly recommend. Delicious fresh food, made fast, and great view of the lake! Perfect for our family that needed a quick food option that wasn’t fast food. Very customizable menu, vegan and gluten free friendly.
