We went here for a family birthday celebration as our birthday girl was coeliac. Food is lovely and you would never know it is 100% gluten free. Tonight we booked for 6.30pm, had to ask continually for drinks and to order and our entrees came out at 8.20pm and mains 8.30pm and not altogether. For prices of $32-45 a main meal, some semblance of service is expected. The staff were obviously busy and quite pleasant but obviously very understaffed and it was a bit like Fawlty Towers. Wrong drinks were coming out and they wandered through the restaurant with no direction. I am sure with better management this place will be great. Having a 100% gluten free restaurant is fantastic. Just need to fine tune service to match the food. Waiting 2 hrs for meals with kids is a little hard.

Disaster…. We came for Mother’s Day and also booked a table weeks prior. For us to have the experience we did, I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone and nor would we ever come back. Firstly, our chai lattes came luke warm which isn’t a big issue but the series of events at this venue resulted them in a 2 star rating… We were told a 30 minute wait for food which is already astronomical for a cafe but we weren’t going to leave after everyone had just arrived. The wait time ended up being 50 minutes… which is absolutely insane for a cafe that wasn’t even full. Even so, it shouldn’t take this long. The food was okay, nothing special or worth it for the amount time we waited. I also had egg shells in my “mushrooms” dish which was very off putting. We also had a member that’s Coeliac and they said that the prawn toast is safe for her to eat, then came back to us and said it’s fried in contaminated oil and asked if that was okay… I mean for everyone who knows what coeliac disease is. It’s not ok… Overall, for a cafe that isn’t cheap, the service wasn’t up to standards and nor was their food.

This place is pure gold! An authentic gem I visit regularly for delicious Currys. My kids favourite restaurant (eggplant pakoras!), and caters beautifully to our gluten free, dairy free, vegan and meat loving family members. Try the eggplant curry, goat curry, fish curry, spinach paneer. So so so good. And affordable! A Newcastle landmark.
