First time going for dinner. Would have preferred a table with 2 burners since we have someone gluten free. Since we had to share a cooking pot, all of the gluten free food had to be cooked first.
I love this restaurant and the food is really good. I have a gluten allergy and they have a gluten free bun available for the burgers. I do have to critique the bun though, it falls apart way too easily. They need to upgrade that, but I still appreciate that they have it. I would also like it if the menu was more labeled for allergies present, and wish they had gluten free chicken wings I could eat. However, the service has always been very good there and the atmosphere is pretty chill. My husband and I love coming here or ordering food to go from their online ordering system!
Really great cocktails and pizza! My gluten free pizza was the best I have ever had...thin and crispy which is how I like it! The Italian salad was very good also!
The private event held at Tonic was memorable and the staff was very instrumental in making it so. Gina Mauger was excellent. She was always available to discuss/review the specifics and was ready with options to accommodate my needs. The servers were very attentive without being intrusive. The entire staff worked seamlessly together to create a wonderful dining experience.. Last but not least at all, the food was amazing!!! Very tasty!!! To my surprise, most of the food was gluten free - a request I overlooked. My family was very pleased. I look forward to hosting my next party at Tonic.
I am a bit disappointed. I am sure there is a good reason. The traditional breakfast is kinda lame if you need Gluten free toast. At least it is an option.
It was my first time coming into this location and I was pleasantly surprised with a beautiful and inviting atmosphere, and excellence service. Ryan really made it a great experience from start to finish, she was really knowledgeable about the menu and answered any questions I had.
I order a shot of expresso, a honey coconut milk matcha and a gluten free sour dough breakfast sandwich. Being a gluten sensitive girly I was really impressed with the amount of gluten free options as well as the variety of milks I was able to choose from. For sure check this spot out if you’re near by or just want a relaxing cafe experience. Can’t wait to come back.
I got a gluten free waffle and it's very good! Most gluten free waffles are hard and literally hurt to eat, but this one is nice and fluffy! I even had to wait a few hours to eat it because I bought it before work, but it stayed soft! I'm very impressed
Sat at the bar for dinner and drinks with a friend around 5pm. It was moderately busy but not too loud, with kind of an awkwardly shaped floor plan, basically 2 hallways separated by a wall. Bartender was nice enough. I had the pear cocktail and a glass of the red sangria offered from the cocktail list; both were delicious, but the pear cocktail lacked the larger pear and ginger notes I expected from the ingredients. It mostly just tasted like a spiked sparkling lemonade; good, but not expected.
My friend and I shared a plate of the brussel sprouts after I saw reviews recommending them. They had good flavor, but my friend and I both noted how salty they were and how absolutely drenched they were in the sesame-soy sauce. We both enjoyed the sriracha aioli with them, but they made me thirsty 😬
I ordered the Peebee & Jay burger (pictured) and enjoyed it greatly!! The flavors worked great together. The beef patty had good flavor, but was definitely rare and not the medium I asked for. I didn't mind enough to ask for a replacement. The pork belly was crispy, with good flavor, maybe a little overdone. The popper fries were delicious! I felt like the little pickle nubbin' on my plate was strange and difficult to eat. I'd rather have had a spear or whole mini pickle; my friend commented on how it looked like I got stiffed with a pickle stem lol
My friend ordered the shrimp arancini (pictured) and loved it!! He told me the carrot puree was delicious and the plating was beautiful. I didn't try his food but it smelled and looked great! He also enjoyed his draft beer.
Overall, I had a good time, but I felt like there was a lot to be improved about the food and drink. I hate to be nitpicky, but after paying $63 (after 20% tip) for a modest meal at a restaurant I've heard rave reviews from locals over and over, I would've expected these smaller details to be locked down and perfected. With it's convenient location and appealing menu, I will most likely be back to give 2SP another try.
P.S. the music playlist was boppin'!
EDIT (4/11/24): Originally I had written celiac folks beware due to the "gluten friendly" label on dishes containing soy sauce. The restaurant has replied clarifying they use La Choy Gluten Free Soy Sauce. My review has been edited to reflect this and I'm happy to hear the restaurant takes allergies seriously 😁 I strive for honesty in my reviews and I thank 2SP for their clarification; I will be back! 🍴
We just had a wonderful meal here. The staff/owners were super friendly! The food was awesome and fit the bill exactly! I had the chick'n sandwich with fries, my wife had a breakfast wrap, and we shared a piece of cake. All vegan, all gluten-free, all kosher. We loved it, and we'll be back!
The Atmosphere is a little out of their control as it is in the DE-CO space. The table setup is like an old-school cafeteria, which felt welcoming, just could have been a little cleaner at the time. Again, not their fault. :)
We stopped for lunch while sightseeing nearby. The kitchen staff easily accommodated our gluten and lactose intolerances. We had the chicken salad sandwich on gluten free bread, a turkey sandwich on a baguette, and a gluten free raspberry bar - delicious! Portion sizes are good and potato chips accompany sandwiches. Parking is very convenient; either on-street or right in front of the building. Comfortable seating in a nicely decorated dining area.
This resturant is incredible. The atmosphere is great with the open kitchen. It was fun watching the chef fillet the bronzino. The cocktails are true craft cocktails. They make their own house syrups and fresh squeeze juice every day. 🤌 The food.....incredible. everything had so much flavor. We ordered the pork shank that fell right off the bone, and the wyagu steak that was cooked perfectly and had a great buttery texture/flavor. We had the butternut squash, great flavor. Like little candy bites.
The server was very knowledgeable about all the gluten free options as someone in our party had a strict diet. Onky 4 stars for service because they forgot the scallops that we ordered. But still impressed overall with this resturant! Will definitely go back.
We had an amazing experience! We tried the Thursday tasting menu special and it was so much fun. We got to try 12 different things on the menu. The pork belly and crab dip were amazing! The crab cake and shrimp and grits were equally delicious. There were great gluten free options. The manager was very friendly and answered all our questions. The space was both historic and modern. We would definitely come again. Even took home a Photo Booth souvenir!
Lovely place with coziest atmosphere! A real hidden gem of Wilmington! Nice and tidy outdoor area, a great variety of gluten-free and vegan options. Food was really flavorful and delicious, perfectly seasoned and just melting in my mouth. Highly recommend!
Unique, delicious food! I had the Tlayudas Oaxaquenas - like a Oaxaca pizza(?). It’s smothered in delicious toppings I couldn’t name and rocked my world. Adventurous and gluten free! My companion had Enchiladas Coloradas and they were also delicious.
Took my wife for our 5 month wedding anniversary. Loved it! Big changes to decor and menu since my last visit a few years before. My wife has a serious allergy to wheat / gluten, but the menu easily accommodated us. The crab bisque is incredible! This is now our favorite North Wilm restaurant hands down!! Thanks for creating a unique eatery!
We ordered our office lunch for 6 of us. The food arrived well packaged and was delicious. Everyone couldn't stop talking about it. The Croque Monsieur had the perfect combination of flavors (Boro Cafe even made us one with Gluten Free Bread) and they were grilled to perfection. The Cobb salads were beautiful and enjoyed. The Bacon and Egg sandwich with a side of potatoes was a great match with the sautéed onions on the potatoes. We order from Boro Cafe frequently and highly recommend them. Their pastries along with Gelato are must haves. Enjoy!
6 friends and myself came for brunch on a Saturday morning.
We were immediately greeted by an owner and our server, Jane, who offered to let us choose which table best fit our needs.
In all, we had the coffee (fantastic), pomegranate mimosa (coming back for more of those), iPA (loved it just like Jane promised we would), Brunch on Bow, Bloody Mary, and lagerita.
Jane helped us navigate the menu, assisting with gluten-free needs and substitutions. Our first time chicken and waffle adventurer loved her meal, we highly recommend the maple bacon fries and loved the bananas foster French toast, breakfast flatbread, carnitas omelet and bomboloni breakfast burger.
We were checked on by Jane, a manager, and a co-owner who were all phenomenally down to earth and hospitable. We were made aware of new menu features, Valentine’s Day events, their VIP club, happy hour specials, and a meet and greet with the second co-owner Fabio.
We will be returning very soon!
My husband and I hosted our wedding reception of 30 people here this weekend and absolutely loved it. It was a pleasure working with Admin, the events manager, and having every detail taken care of in regards to menu options, drinks, gluten free options and even dietary speciality meals for specific family members. We felt very well taken care of and the food was amazing! We couldn't have asked for a better experience for our small wedding reception.
We chose Harry’s Savoy Grill for my mom’s 70th birthday dinner, and sadly, it was a letdown. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt off. The stares we received upon walking in made it clear that African Americans dining there might not be the norm — very strange and uncomfortable. It gave off “rally” vibes that left us feeling out of place.
The noise level was unbearable, thanks to a table next to us that was clearly over-served. The staff didn’t seem to address it, even though it was obvious everyone was ready for them to leave.
The food was mediocre at best. The only vegan option was a hollowed-out squash with under-seasoned beans spilling over the plate — bland and unappetizing. No gluten-free pasta options were available, and the potatoes tasted like a bowl of oil. For a restaurant positioned as upscale, the food and overall experience were disappointing.
The only bright spot was being able to spend time with my family and celebrate my mom’s milestone, but I won’t be back. Definitely not worth the hype — next time, I’ll be paying closer attention to the reviews.
Cute little spot with phenomenal breakfast! Decided to check it out after I saw they have gluten free bread options. Owner was very welcoming and friendly, we will definitely be back!
I was so impressed with the service at Capers & Lemons, particularly for catering to dietary restrictions. I was with colleagues and because I generally do not trust restaurants to have GF options, I had fully planned on just having something to drink and skipping lunch.
However, the server was knowledgeable about what could and couldn't be prepared gluten-free, as well as realistic about the risk of cross-contamination. I'm a super sensitive celiac and opted not to risk the GF pasta, but the kitchen was able to prepare me a baked chicken breast to put on a plain salad.
Despite being minimally-seasoned chicken on a plain house salad, I thought it was delicious! The chicken was moist and flavorful. The food my colleagues got looked amazing as well. There was GF/DF lemon sorbetto which was perfect for a hot day - I couldn't finish it, but it was so good. Altogether it was nice to be able to enjoy lunch and dessert safely.
Also, the ambiance was super cool. Loved the decor, in particular the unique light fixture in the dining room.
Highly recommend this restaurant.
Dined with a party of 7. Staff was attentive when taking orders about the amount of heat of our orders as well as having gluten-free options on the menu. Everyone enjoyed our meal especially the seafood salad, pad Thai and rolls. We will definitely return.
They are an awesome professional, helpful, and inviting staff. Although, I was dashing. I used to patronize before I miraculously developed a gluten sensitivity. Blah Blah, lol. I am mad because I get a taste for a Capriottis Turkey the works. Do you guys offer sub bowls. That way, I'll buy my own bread and assemble the sub myself. Just can't beat natural ingredients. The smell of a good sub aroma in the air when you arrive. This location, I admire, so much. I will try and ask for a sub in bowl without the bread. But all the fixings. By chance, if you all consider gluten-free roll. UDIS gluten-free bread is the best. $2 to $3 extra I would pay because it is reasonable. Gluten-free is on the expensive side.
My family and I decided to make reservations at this restaurant after being there several times before with excellent service we were happy to return. But I can’t say that we had excellent service or a excellent experience this time. It all started with a person in our party that has a gluten allergy not being catered to by the restaurant when they offer gluten free buns and were not able to produce any due to “the chef doesn’t have any fresh ones”. The waitress we had was doing three jobs and did not have the time to attend to a larger party like she should have. The bar music was so loud you couldn’t think. I could keep on going but at this point I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
