I loved that they had gluten free toast & pancakes. Our guy Tyrone was amazing and attentive. Bringing hot maple syrup for the pancakes was a great touch.
GLUTEN FREE REVIEW:
Absolutely amazing experience with endless Gluten Free options available - both appetizers came with gluten free bread. All pizzas can be made on gluten free crust and pastas can be made with gluten free noodles! Bonus that there is no up charge for gluten free.
The flavors of everything were amazing and the atmosphere was great! Our favorites were the mussels and whipped ricotta. Heads up that the chopped salad was spicy!! We didn’t get to try a gluten free pasta but will be back to do so!
I have been oyster bar hopping this year and this is becoming my go to spot. I tend to try all the local (NC/VA) oysters and then get more of my favorites. But Mike, the manager recommended Rocky Rhodes after hearing my favorite oysters are meaty and briny and if that sounds like your oysters please try them. They are a new favorite.
The non-celiac member of the party wanted me to shout out the shrimp po' boy as well.
The wait staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive despite the busy Saturday atmosphere.
I can't wait to go to the oyster happy hour next!
Final note: I am very sensitive to sound and crowded restaurants are a big offender for this. I've only ever sat at the bar here, it's been close, but I've not had to use my earbuds yet. Mileage may vary, but its acoustics definitely make it quieter than a lot of other places I've been downtown on a Saturday.
Our servers were great about checking for food allergies, and they even had a gluten-free menu for people who need to avoid gluten. They had a decent selection of items, but not a large menu. The food came out in good time. It was well prepared and had good flavor. The servers kept the drinks filled and were attentive to our party of about 20.
Absolutely amazing! Introduced my son to French cuisine and oysters for the first time. Everything we tried was delicious, fresh and perfectly seasoned. We also appreciated the gluten free offerings, including pastries. I’ll add that the service was wonderful-we felt cared for and welcomed and my son enjoyed the staff sharing about different oyster types and asking about his experience. What a treat to repeat! Already planning our return…
A great place for a date night or before a show at Blumenthal! They have a very large GF menu. Just ask your server. Most of the items are just modified from the regular menu. I feel very safe eating here!
Nice restaurant inside the downtown Marriott. For those who need to eat gluten-free, quite a few options and the server we had was very knowledgeable. Open air concept next to a rather large bar. Food is sourced directly from local farms. Foid portions and quality very good and extremely convenient if going to an event at the Spectrum Center. Our server ended up being monopolized by another patron -- lots of chatter about personal history -- to the point that there was an extreme drop off in service to our table - drinks went dry, dirty dishes not removed,a very long wait to get our check. We would go back, but hope the service is better.
Service and Atmosphere was great! The place is in a beautiful spot in the middle of the city and has a beautiful aesthetic. But for anyone who has celiac/severe gluten intolerance, dairy intolerance, vegan or any other restrictions this place is not friendly to those options. My order was sent out wrong first with fries which was supposed to be a salad (the fries have gluten on them and was sent out with my plate anyways) and the burger was mushy raw. Sent back. 2nd time it comes out they send out 2 burger patties with no toppings on it like the first, no sauces, and the salad was supposed to be a beet salad with a lot of different toppings on it and they sent out lettuce, 2 tomorrows, and 4 radishes. I am difficult already when I eat out so it’s understanding but I did expect for such a high end place to have more options for GF. So unfortunately for anyone with restrictions the menu or chefs don’t really cater to us so be cautious. Otherwise the food was fine and everyone else’s looked pretty good! Make sure to arrive with plenty of time to find parking!!
The food was as expected from a tapas restaurant, nothing to rave about. The service was odd. We had a reservation and were seated at the top of the restaurant. When the server had approached us, she was very quiet and seemed disinterested like we were inconveniencing her. It was my first time at this restaurant and I asked for her to let me know which menu items were gluten free in which she took the menu to write what was available. She was very throughout with writing what was available. We then had another server approach us saying she was going to be taking over our table, while the other server was waiting tables there. The vibe from the servers was that we were inconveniencing them and they lacked the hospitality I would expect from a restaurant in uptown. I’m always very kind to servers so it threw me for a loop receiving this kind of poor service from a restaurant I was excited to check out. I’m thinking the servers at the top of the restaurant make less in tips based on how they seat people possibly based on their appearance and how nicely they’re dressed. Despite some of the food being good, the overall experience left a sour taste in my mouth.
I got a cubano sandwich on gluten-free rolls. There was plenty of meat, but it wasn't the right proportion of meat to cheese. Believe it or not, there was too much meat!
The place has many alcoves providing seating. There were many potted plants.
I was able to find metered street parking.
Church and Union had such a fun swanky atmosphere with a great lit up bar. Unfortunately, blinding lights from cars in the windows kept blinding me but still good energy. The best part was our amazing Waiter who went above and beyond in making sure i got gluten free options. Food overall was a let down for the price and atmosphere but still very good. I heard the brunch is where it’s at.
Absolutely AMAZING food and drinks! Wonderful, friendly service, and the staff was upfront and honest about the wait (we went at prime doordash game time when they were swamped). Had a drink at the bar while we waited for our table, and they were very well made. Once seated, we didn't wait or want for anything. 100% recommend! Beautiful, delicious, FILLING. Oh and gluten free accommodations!
Ordered, I did, the Chilled Cauliflower Florets, Tikka Masala Paneer, and Buttered Naan. Mmm... strong with the flavor, each dish was. Crafted with the precision of a lightsaber strike, and cooked to a balance only a true culinary Force-wielder could achieve.
Attentive and kind, the staff were—like Jedi, but with menus. Felt welcomed, I did. Gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan... options aplenty for all lifeforms across the galaxy.
Ah, but the parking—yes, unexpected that was. Validated, it is! Parked at The Green Lot, I did. Saved ten credits, I did. A wise and generous feature.
Saved to my favorites, I have. Return, I shall, the next time my travels bring me to this system.
Recommend it, I do. Seek this place out, you must—if authentic Indian cuisine you crave. Hmmm.
May the flavors be with you.
First time here and had such a lovely experience. Our waiter Carlos (I believe was his name) was amazing! I had to restrict myself from gluten and dairy and he made sure none of my food had that stuff.
We enjoyed the scallops and the branzino.
This was a wonderful experience. My first time here and for my birthday. The food was amazing and their gluten free options were great! I got the lobster risotto and it was delicious. Good cocktails too! Keyonna was so pleasant and very attentive. A must to visit!
