My wife is a Coeliac and must have a gluten free diet. If she eats gluten containing foods, she becomes very ill after about 2 hours. She went to Jeyes on Friday 16th May 2025 and asked for a gluten free scone. She was offered either fruit or cheese and chives. She asked the server to confirm that the cheese and chives scone was gluten free. This was confirmed. My wife thought that the scone tasted strange and eat only a small amount. 2 hours later she was violently sick and incapacitated. She had to call for help as she was looking after our granddaughters. She was unable to drive home and had to stay at our son’s home at Earls Barton overnight. We have since spoken to Jeyes management, but they deny any fault with their process for Gluten Free food and were dismissive of our complaint. However my wife had only eaten that scone and it must have contained gluten. I would advise any Coeliacs to not use Jeyes as they cannot be trusted to order and handle Gluten Free food. We certainly will never use them again.
Lovely breakfast with my family here today, food was of really high quality and they catered for me being Gluten Free no problem! Even the lovely cake selection had Gluten Free options which I normally can’t join in with when eating out with the family, so it was definitely refreshing and appreciated! Everything was really tasty! Super clean and friendly what more can you ask for, thank you :)
