Been many times in previous years ans enjoyed it but I went today for brunch and I couldn’t eat the food it was that bad. First raw eggs. Sent back and the new plate had overdone eggs but with raw bits on the bottom (how that is possible I have no idea), , a stale cold burger bun that I expect had been frozen and not toasted. It was not fresh and not the brioche toast advertised. The dish was eggs, avocado and brioche toast and avocado tasted like it was a shop bought avocado style dip and not fresh at all. It had a hair in it 🤢 It also came with poor quality coleslaw and salad which is odd for that dish, tasted terrible and not as advertised. Just a terrible and unedible dish. Second dish was a gluten free toast with halloumi and scrambled eggs which was ok. Halloumi tasted like it had been cooked in a dirty pan so that also had to be left and we weren’t convinced the bread had been prepared to be gluten free so that too was left. The staff didn’t really seem to know what they were doing and not the most helpful when I informed them of the issues. They charged me fully even though we couldn’t eat it. The dining room was full of smoke from the kitchen which smelled like it was due to the kitchen staff using dirty oily pans and we left smelling strongly of fried food so we are going home to change our clothes and shower because it is that bad.
The Glaswegian men who ran the place when I visited previously did a fantastic job but now it feels like it is run by students who are not doing a good job. The coffee is great and scones look amazing but I decided to skip ordering a scone after the disappointment with the breakfast. Sadly won’t be back.
I absolutely love this place! The portions are generous, especially considering the price. I am gluten intolerant and there are gluten free substitutes for pancakes and toasties (bread) and for gluten free products they are very good. I had a halloumi chorizo toastie which came with homemade soup, salad and chips-not fries but potato chips/crisps. I also had a mocha which was very good. The soup was very cosy and comforting and my sister had pancakes, beans, bacon, sausage and eggs which were all very good. I really recommend coming here the staff is very friendly. It was crowded because it’s a popular place so we had to wait but not long only 5-10 minutes. They also have delicious cakes, I’ve heard positive things about the carrot cake and the hot chocolate.
I would highly recommend this cute wee cafe in the centre of St. Andrews.
Every table was full ( which speaks volumes for the food and service). We went for a takeaway of soup and it was delicious.
The soup is always vegan and gluten free as stated on the menu board which was fab as we struggle to find home made vegan soup when out and about.
The service was great too!
Will definitely be back and recommend to others!
Thank you 💛😴
We had an amazing experience. My daughter loves the gluten free cheese toastie so much she had two. Great gluten free options and friendly staff! I really love that local art is on display for purchase.
