My favorite spot in town! Whether you are looking for great coffee or tea, amazing house made pastries (muffins, biscuits, cinnamon rolls, teacakes, cookies, and so much more), breakfast sandwiches, or just a smile.. Olive's has it! I always leave there in a good mood- the staff is friendly & very quick. Efficient & consistent operations means it's always a 5 star visit! You can also get gluten free & vegan options without compromising any quality (the gluten free chocolate chip cookies are maybe event better than the original)! From healthy snacks to an indulgent treat.. Olive's is the place to go! *Pro tip- they do sell out of certain items on weekends so head in early if you are craving something specific!

Excellent place. On Sundays my wife and I try to find a different breakfast/cafe place to visit on the North Shore (think area from Wenham to Seabrook to Andover). She needs gluten free so it can be a challenge to find good coffee/pastries/breakfast for both of us. This place did not disappoint. We’ve checked out ~ 20 places (all 4.5 or higher) in the last ~9 months and I’d say this place is among the top 5. When we arrived there was a line (good sign) and ordering/customer service/interaction was great. I had an egg sandwich on an Asiago bagel - enjoyed it very much (9/10). I got a maple bacon scone and white chocolate raspberry scone to go. Those were good (8.5/10). Hot coffee was good (8.5/10). Wife had an açaí bowl (9/10) and gluten free chocolate scone (9/10). We will be back. Note, we’ve searched for places in Newburyport over the last 9 months… and this place never ‘popped up’ on our radar as we were assuming we should search for breakfast places in the concentrated downtown area. This place is ~ 3 blocks from the downtown area so google maps may not highlight it. If you are in the downtown area, this place is worth the walk. Plenty of street parking if driving.

I love Chococoa's coffee and pastries, but I wanted to take a chance to highlight their whoopie pies. My husband and I had them as favors at our post-wedding brunch (at Allagash in Portland, Maine). Ordering and pick-up was so easy and they coordinated the ribbon color, and gave us signs for the display. Everyone raved about them at the brunch (notable as we also had Bite Into Maine, Tandem Bakery, and Rose Foods (if you know Portland, this is big)). Our gluten free guests especially, raved about how moist they were and scrambled to take the extras home with them!

If you want tasty food, go here! Love the vegan and gluten free options. Plus the atmosphere is great. Don't expect great quality at fast food prices, whether it's here or other small businesses & restaurants. Such a unique place, it's harder and harder to find foodspots that focus on homemade and gourmet food but Joppa does a good job.
