One of my favorite places in Greensboro. Organic, fair trade teas and related products. They carry a lot of local skincare, candles, and other goods too. They’re conscientious about marking potential allergens, and they have lots of options for vegan and gluten-free patrons. Very calm and pretty atmosphere. Woman-owned and operated!
Great little coffee shop! Got the chai and Purple Orchid with macadamia nut milk. a couple gluten free options and lots of dairy free milks to choose from. Local art and wares, too!
So today is Mother's Day and we knew they would be busy so we made a reservation. We had it for 1245 pm. That's perfectly fine. When we get there we see a sign that they are only offering the holiday menu. Well, ok. That should have been stated when you make reservations online. If we had known, I would have checked the menu or called for clarification as I have food restrictions. We have eaten here multiple times, so I know they always have multiple things that I can have. When I saw the sign and checked in for our reservation, I asked the lady at the hostess stand if there were any gluten free options on the holiday menu. She acted as if it was the biggest inconvenience to be asked that and literally handed me the gluten free menu and said "you'll just have to cross reference this with the holiday menu.". Ok so she was rude but I tried to be understanding as they are busy. But then I had to asl about an item and she literally couldn't have been less help (well, I guess, technically she could have been less help, but not by much). Anyway, we told them to cancel our reservation. Basically I am writting this to warn people that if it's a special occasion you might want to check the menu options. If I had had any idea beforehand, I would have called earlier in the week to verify the menu had options and not wasted my entire drive over there just to have to leave because I couldn't even eat there. It was ridiculous. They are normally a great option, but I know to never go on any holiday because either they just thinks its a good idea to shorten their regular menu or they can't handle the business. I am not sure which one, honestly. I get that not every place has GF options so I am always thankful when they do so this was beyond disappointing. The worst was the rude hostess, though. I understand you are busy, but it's Mother's Day and you KNOW it will be busy.
I love this place! My favorite coffee shop in Greensboro.
I tried a specialty Sweet Spartan, and a new item on the menu, the affigato on top of a gluten-free brownie…. So delicious!! All the employees were so sweet and took the time to make me feel special. I am grateful for the wonderful experience here today.
