nicely decorated and set up, good service from the staff. But the food was far from good. We had a set meal for 3 of us. it came with the smallest chapati I've ever seen (the size of a good biscuit) and there were 2 of them for 3 people. small portions. the starter was inedible and i eat anything and everything. Mains were watery in consistency.
The only large portion was a potatoes dish. I don't go to an Indian restaurant for potatoes.
Everything is gluten free, great if you can't tolerate it so maybe that's why the dishes didn't do it for me in the taste department.
Soda water very expensive, same as a coke.
Surprised there are so many top reviews. so guess its just me!
Really tasty food
Lots of veggie, vegan, and gluten-free options
Lovely serving staff
We didn’t have to wait long for the food to come out
We were given as much time as we needed before leaving.
2 beers, 4 tacos, a side, and a dessert cost around £40.
The carbonara was probably one of the worst I’ve had in a while, the sauce ruined it and the pasta pieces were too big to even have a full bite of, pasta was served in a pan. My partner had a gluten free pizza which was actually very nice but I myself did not enjoy my food.
The service was amazing, loved the staff members but the atmosphere just felt too crowded, didn’t feel like a nice place to sit down as we were all cramped up in this upstairs area and it was too loud to even hear anything.
Very nice place with georgeus food. Burgers are really tasty and it's great that you can build your own. Even better that gluten free buns are available as well!
Our waitress was lovely and very accommodating. Superb service! Thank you.
The perfect start to the day.
I had the Blueberry cheesecake Fluffy American Pancakes and my partner ordered the Gluten Free Residence full English, with sausage and black pudding!!
As a coeliac, I would recommend to all my friends with dietary requirements. So nice to see a restaurant that doesn't have only salads and brownies as their gluten free options.
Bottomless brunch here on a Sunday - Abbie-F was on the ball with making sure we had our next cocktails order in any time we got close to running out! Really great service and food was very tasty. Would definitely recommend. Cocktails were delicious! We stuck to rum-based. I'm gluten free and had the jerk pork belly. Second time having this and had no problems either times! Just make sure you let them know :)
Lovely place. We were a large group and were very well looked after. Excellent food (big fan of the fritters), and they catered well for coeliacs. Great vibe in there, and the staff were super friendly.
The customer service, attention to detail, decor, presentation and food here is simply exceptional. Our server was knowledgeable and took my gluten allergy seriously (they even added tooth picks labelled “allergy” so what I could eat was clearly labeled). I even got my own soy sauce :) Well worth the wait and pricey date night! Book a res in advance. Can’t wait to go back!
I had a fantastic time celebrating mine and a friends 60th birthdays. The first time I have been but am sure it won't be the last.
Having coeliac disease is always a worry when eating out, from my initial phone conversation to being served on the evening we went I felt completely at ease. Food was delicious and the evening was topped off with the amazing Overtones.
We’re always very conscious of booking fine dining restaurants due to my gluten intolerance so always check ahead of time as we understand adapting a set tasting menu can be difficult however - V&V is marketed as gluten intolerant friendly, and I’d suggest this is not quite the case if you’re expecting a GF menu of the same standard as the original.
We were served the second course first without communication that we weren’t going to be getting the first(?!) the bread course was quite clearly shop bought Genius (or similar) bread which is the spongiest and blandest on the market. Dishes skipped the sauce due to the ingredients having gluten in, which made them also bland. Most courses lacked the element of having ingredients you wouldn’t expect to go together, work and therefore wow you which you’d expect for an almost Michelin star priced menu.
The good parts!! We had a dish swapped out due to the restrictions and were given a Thai-style peanut/coriander/courgette/lychee plate which had the experimental/imaginative Michelin quality described above - please put this on the regular menu! The final dessert was prepared/developed by one of the other chefs and it was absolutely beautiful - crumbed carrot cake and chocolate mousse (this was the winner).
The service was great, the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Tableware and crockery for each dish were at the standard you’d expect for fine dining and a lovely touch. I personally loved the atmosphere, the playlist was fun and created a great vibe.
Overall as someone with dietary restrictions I won’t be returning, however my experience is not the norm, so I wouldn’t take this as gospel if you are not the same.
Fantastic pizza, loads of buffalo mozzarella on top of a gorgeous tomato sauce. The salad was crisp & fresh. Better than the pizza I had in Las Vegas! The chef even rustled up a gluten free base for me. Will defo be eating here again.
The food and drink were great.
I had the Tagliatelle al Fungi and it was better than the Tagliatelle I had in Rome last year.
My partner had a gluten free pizza and it was the best gluten free pizza she's ever had. The pizza base had a "bite" to it unlike the cardboard bases she has had elsewhere.
The only reason I have left a poor review is because they don't accept cash.
Cash is still legal tender and I should have been able to use it to pay for my meal.
We left with a feeling of satisfaction from the food and drink but not being able to use cash has left a bad taste.
It's all we talked about for 10 minutes after we left, mainly due to the fact that not once were we informed that they were card only.
We were only informed AFTER the bill arrived and I tried to pay with cash.
Good experience until the end.
Thanks for replying Nino. I've updated my review. The previous rating I gave felt a bit harsh given the quality of the food, drink and service.
I was just a bit annoyed in the moment as I like to pay cash wherever I go.
