Our favorite breakfast spot when visiting SLO! Sally Loo’s was recommended from friends that live in the area and we couldn’t have been more glad we came. Hands down they have the best breakfast food we have ever tried, all while being allergy friendly and quick to get the orders out. I don’t think I have ever seen a cafe that has knocked out a line of 30 people so quickly, all while keeping the food quality top notch. My wife is allergic to gluten and eggs, so the restaurants we can go to are limited. Sally Loo’s handles allergy restrictions effectively and efficiently. Every restaurant can learn from them.

This is one of my favorite restaurants! They can make anything but samosas gluten free, and can make most sauces dairy free. I love being able to have naan again! My favorites are lamb boti kebab, tandoori chicken, chicken vindaloo, vegetable pakora, chicken pakora. I've heard their chicken tikka masala is wonderful, but haven't had them make it dairy-free for me yet.

Linnea's is my favorite cafe! So many tea options, and the workers are welcoming and nice! The back garden is very relaxing and a great place to study or catch some live music. Many vegan and gluten free options for those with dietary restrictions. Tea and coffee loyalty cards can help you save some money if you become a repeat customer (like me)!

Burger Village in San Luis Obispo is a standout for anyone who loves variety—whether you’re into classic meats, exotic proteins, or plant-based patties. Here’s my take: ⸻ 🍔 Proteins for Every Palate • Organic Classic Beef: A reliably juicy, grass-fed patty. Goes great with cheddar, roasted peppers, and their signature sauce. • Exotic Meats: Think elk, bison, lamb, turkey—and yes—boar, salmon, and even ostrich. A reviewer said their ostrich tasted “like a gamier turkey burger” and enjoyed the creative toppings pairing . Several folks name the elk burger “amazing.” • Chicken, Salmon & More: You can also go with a chicken sandwich or salmon, each customizable with loads of toppings. () • Vegan/Plant-Based Options: Includes black bean, cauliflower, gluten-free veggie, and Impossible patties—with vegan buns, cheese, and spicy veganaise. Vegans love the flexibility: “Have multiple options on what type of vegan burger you want and you can put any toppings on it.” ⸻ 🎨 Toppings & Build Your Own The topping game is on point: sautéed onions, mushrooms, pico de gallo, guac, fire-roasted peppers, jalapeños, fried eggs, applewood bacon, vegan mozzarella—the list goes on. There’s also wraps or lettuce/ gluten-free buns, making it easy to build a burger that fits your vibe. () ⸻ 🍻 Beer Bar & Aesthetic Step inside and you’re met with a bright, open layout: a sleek bar lined with a dozen-plus taps and a fridge of bottled beer. Draft beer lovers will delight—over 30 on tap, including local craft selections. One Yelp fan put it simply: “Huge on‑tap beer selection… can’t wait to go back.” Wood accents, brick walls, and big windows give the space an airy, relaxed feel—perfect for a casual date night or post-work hang. ⸻ 🌿 Sides & Extras • Fries & Tots: Hand-cut fries, waffle fries, tots, and sweet potato fries—crispy and well-seasoned. • Appetizers: Vegan cauliflower tenders, loaded fries, falafel, even Impossible tenders. • Salads & Shakes: Hearty salads (like the signature tostada salad) and organic shakes round out the menu. () ⸻ 👥 Atmosphere & Service The vibe is friendly and laid-back. One SLO local noted that service was “super friendly and attentive,” and that it’s usually easy to grab a seat—even on weekends. ⸻ ✅ Final Verdict Why it rocks: • Stellar protein variety—classic, exotic, vegan • Topping freedom meets creative combos • Great beer selection in an open, inviting space • Solid sides, shakes, and eco-conscious ethos (organic, peanut-free, gluten-free) What to note: • Exotic burgers can be pricier • Buns (especially brioche) can be a tad dry—ask for vegan or gluten-free options ⸻ ⭐ Rating 4.5 / 5 – Burger Village strikes an excellent balance between adventurous eats and comfort classics, all served in a welcoming, beer-friendly atmosphere. Whether you’re craving elk or an Impossible stack, there’s something to elevate your burger game. Next time you’re in downtown SLO, pair your custom build with a cold craft brew—your tastebuds (and Insta feed) will thank you.

My wife has a gluten allergy (Celiac)and must be very careful to prevent cross -contamination. Of course we were looking at the donuts and not at everything the young lady was doing. When she reached in to get the donuts we asked nicely if she had changed her glove. In the snottiest way possible she said, "I just put it on right in front of you! We don't use tongs on the GF donuts!" Well excuse me! The other SLODOCO location we usually frequent DOES. How are we supposed to know the protocol is different in the different locations? Her condescending tone and snotty attitude was absolutely shocking. The atmosphere was strange... Some guy sitting at the counter pigging out on food that had obviously been brought in from somewhere else... Just a weird vibe. Donuts were goid but the attitude of the young lady was atrocious. Good thing my wife was with me or I would have made a scene about her attitude.

Had an excellent lunch experience at Luna today. Service was great from start to finish. They have plenty of vegan/vegetarian and gluten free options. We chose the cauliflower tacos and paella. Both were exceedingly delicious. Ambience is fun with sunny colors. Highly recommend this place!
