We hadn’t made a booking but were able to be seated right away with vibrant, warm hospitality and they accommodated my being celiac with the most delicious, creamy gluten-free crab pasta. An impromptu decision with lasting impressions.
Always lovely smiling faces from the friendly and helpful staff. Food choices and portions are great, I’m coeliac so it’s always a bit tough with food choices and safety.
As to be expected in a busy holiday spot, it is constantly very busy so you order your food and drinks then wait until your name is called. With a big group, lots of standing around waiting and then scrambling to find somewhere to sit with everyone’s bits and pieces coming out at different times makes for a somewhat chaotic experience, but nevertheless, everything was excellent and the coeliac options were a godsend.
In this oasis of tranquillity and luxury, Lontara was a huge disappointment. The ambiance is ok and the wine list is really below average. My missus is celiac so we chose the grilled prawn starter (delicious), then the lamb rendang with rice and asparagus for main. The asparagus was the best part. The lamb was massive, I mean impossibly massive. But while it was very well cooked and fell apart it had zero flavour.
Sadly the whole experience is memorable for the enormous, greasy, expensive and flavourless main.
Day two we ate Antipasto in our room and it was so much better. My advice would be to avoid.
The only plus: the food was genuinely celiac friendly
