Stopped in for breakfast. Grabbed a seat outside. Traffic is noisy, but I have an ability to tune it out, so while it annoyed my boyfriend a wee bit, I was too busy appreciating the nice weather to notice..đ
The menu offers relatively unique items and I like that. I also noticed pancakes can be made gluten free for you celiacs out there. I ordered the corned beef hash, he ordered the Boulder, and together we ordered cinnamon sugar & lemon donut bites. Half cafe latte for his drink, which he enjoyed.
Donuts came out first. Cake donuts. Tasty. The lemon on the other hand.... đ Tasted a bit like applesauce with an over amount of lemon extract thrown in. I didn't like it at all. We both enjoyed the cinnamon.
E enjoyed his Boulder.
As for my hash.... It appeared, and tasted like, it was leftover from yesterday and reheated. The eggs were cooked well, but the potatoes were shriveled and hard as a rock. See side by side photo of one of his potatoes next to one of mine. There is another picture of my potatoes up close, but I didn't have a way of showing just how hard they were. The beef, though quite hard and dry, was tasty mixed with the egg and singular onion piece.
Our waiter was pleasant, attentive, and knowledgeable.
I appreciate this store so much . My son is a severe celiac/diabetic , I ordered the wrong sandwich on gluten free bread , upon confirming at pick up it was gluten free and racing out , Audrey the supervisor ran out to let me know the meatballs were NOT gf and made the right sandwich over again, and did not charge me . Excellent customer service from Brooklyn and Renee! Thanks Snarfs!!!!!!
Top notch. You can walk right in and get the buffet with no wait. The food was all delicious and you get a basket of Naan freshly prepared for you. Give it a try! Also almost everything is gluten free so it was easy to take my mom for a birthday treat.
John Hollyâs is like no other. The food is fresh and delicious and savory. You can have dishes made to order- gluten free, spicy, not spicy. And then there is the gentleman waiter who buys coffee of the rarest, finest kind from around the world and offers a cup free to his return patrons. Last night we had coffee so smooth that at first I doubted it was coffee. It was coffee laced with bourbon from some exotic spot in the world. I tend toward vegetarian and fish dishes. All are flavorful and very ample. You canât go wrong with John Hollyâs
This place is so cute! What a great little neighborhood coffee shop! Reasonably priced drinks and food (I say that in comparison to coffee shops in Platt Park nearby). They also sell bottles of wine, spirits, and beer, like a little neighborhood convenience store. Cool ambience inside and out. I will be back! Hoping for some gluten free pizza crust on the menu soon!
