Five stars isn't enough - our experience here was truly exceptional! The gluten-free options were plentiful, and our waiter intuitively knew to bring my husband gluten-free starters without us even asking. The view was breathtaking, the atmosphere was lively and fun, and the live music added the perfect touch. The food was outstanding, and we left feeling thrilled with our choice
Came here because a gluten free wrap option was specifically mentioned by the owners in these reviews. They do not offer a gluten free wrap so don't expect to get that here. They offer gluten free bread but not exactly the same when you are looking for a breakfast burrito. They also advertise online ordering with no options to select gluten free substitutes. Disappointed.
Terrific food in a fun outdoor setting with shade and rain protection. We went twice and tried the kale salad, ultimate combo salad, pancakes, burgers, and a smoothie. All were excellent and our very sensitive celiac person was fine. All vegan and lots of gluten free.
We ordered gluten free pizza. It was real crust, not that cracker crust that you get at most places. It was delicious. The service was great and the food came out quickly. I definitely recommend eating here while in Kuaui!! There is a nice shopping center around it as well!
Breakfast was delicious! Great coffee too. Sat on the patio, listening to a local musician. Homemade bread and homemade gluten-free bread! They are good about avoiding cross contact.
It's a collective of local farmers and such. Quality ingredients. But it's pretty expensive, even for Hawaii.
I called to confirm there were gluten free/dairy free options and was told yes there was a whole menu. Great! It also showed up on the GF app, so when we were seated i was very disappointed that at first glance there was very little that seemed to actually be GF/DF. Honestly I was ready to leave, I didn't want plain white rice and some protein with no sauce or flavor. Thankfully the manager was very helpful and went over all the options we had, and was very patient. Curry was not on my mind for dinner, but it was SO good! So was the pork loin. Even though I couldn't have the regular side, the sauce was amazing, and they were very accommodating with options. The drinks and wine were stellar. Honestly I would come back every time for the poke. The avocado sauce was insane with the ahi. Thank you for being much more accommodating than first appearance of your allergy menu.
Great restaurant for a healthier meal. Knowledgeable about allergens. Excellent service. Gluten free options and others. Seed oils in some things, but they mostly cook with butter.
i’m dairy and gluten free so finding a place that has shave ice with df cream is hard to find. i had the ube shave ice and it was INCREDIBLE!!! you have to try this, it’s so insanely good! i shared with a friend but you can def eat this on your own too depending on how hungry you are. it’s HUGE.
A number of vegan and gluten free options. The owners are really nice and bend over backwards to try to make your meal as pleasant as possible. They are also wary to make sure the food is vegan, if you do seaire. Our kids really enjoyed their meals and Baba drinks.
7 Gluten free poke options! Their furikake was also gluten free (the cashier kindly helped us check their furikake ingredients list). All of the 3 GF poke I tried were great. Their lau lau and lomi salmon was pretty good too. Coming back again for sure
Delicious! We got the sampler plate, with coleslaw, rice and a side of Mac.
Hubby ate the Mac, the rest was gluten free including the bbq sauce. The chicken was my favorite. So flavorful without any sauce! Great pick for classic bbq where the smoke does the work!
Food truck With a variety of food that includes gluten free and vegan, But clearly, if anybody read his menu items, he serves lamb, chicken, dairy and fish as well.
Pretty hard to rate the atmosphere as five star.
I had the spinach and cheese dish and it was excellent and a huge serving that could’ve served two for $20.
If people want to complain about the price. they should ask first since prices weren’t listed.
Authentic and I was asked if I would like low, medium or high heat and I had medium and it was good and spicy.
If you don’t like hot food, then best you order low heat/spice.
Highly recommend. Truly the best fish taco. The fresh ahi was nuts. They catered so kindly to my gluten and dairy restrictions and it was delicious. Boyfriend had the fish burrito and it was filled and huge!!! Would definitely go back.
First the hostess needs to loose the face piercings for customer service (nose and lip piercing)
Second we asked about gluten free options (she said they didn’t have any gluten free)
Third the a party of 6 came in while we were waiting and asked if they could sit at the bar and have drinks while waiting to be seated (her response was I don’t think so the bartender might be busy) there was 8 open chairs and no one at the bar.
Absolutely delicious. We had a jerk plate and one of their vegan specials, and the most incredible tamarind nectar. Phenomenal food, cooked with love. So happy we stopped by! It’s also all gluten free, so for a celiac like me, I couldn’t be happier. Thanks y’all!
I was hesitant to eat here because I couldn’t tell from an online search if there were gluten-free options available but I’m really glad I tried it! Several things are gluten-free including the guava bbq ribs, steak and catch of the day. I ordered the ribs and they were delicious, juicy and the meat just fell off the bones. They also have an amazing gluten-free dessert (sand pie) that is probably one of the best desserts I’ve ever had. Great service too and nice atmosphere. Overall outstanding and wonderful experience!!!
Nice tasty little place. I need gluten free, so I ordered the chicken satay and gluten free fried rice (they said that besides satay was my only option really). It was really good. (A lot of black pepper on the fried rice - which my husband loved, me not so much. Happy with the food overall!
Absolutely incredible restaurant and really the only fine dining on the island. Sure you can easily spend $200-300+ for two people at other places (Merrimans, Roy's Eating House, Stevenson Library, JO2, to name a few that we visited this week) but if you are a foodie, you know none of those meals while good (some even very good), are going to deliver the extraordinary or "wow" factor you are searching for. Something you can readily find on Oahu just didn't exist on Kauai until now. For those that don't understand what Japanese Kaiseki is (they don't serve California rolls!), or have an open mind beyond "steak and potatoes", or need everything to blow your tastebuds, perhaps this is not the place for you. If you crave the sugar bomb cocktails of all the other establishments, go there. For those that are globally travelled and epicurious, this is your place.
It's a intimate restaurant (14-20 seats on any given night) and I highly recommend sitting at the bar if you want to engage with the chef. It's a 9 course tasting menu (some courses have multiple components). You will immediately notice how peacefully and efficiently the kitchen is operating. The Japanese perfectionist mentality is evident by how clean the kitchen is. Every employee knows their role down to the minutest detail, timed down to the second. Nothing is out of order. Geek out at the orchestra in the kitchen. Dishes were superb in execution. From the starting palate cleanser, to the dashi sous vide and grilled catch of the day. From the binchotan grilled veggies and meats, to the perfectly fried tempura (they even accomodated a special gluten free tempura mix!). Even the finish - a delightful guava cake topped with local Lydgate Farms chocolate for dessert was superb. The whole meal was a perfect balance between dishes that highlighted the purity of its ingredients, and others that delivered the amazing flavours and umami Japanese cuisine is known for. Best of all, this may be the only restaurant on the island that relies almost entirely on locally sourced ingredients. Unbelievable as it sounds, most restaurants on Kauai source from Costco due to challenges of the small and fragmented farming community.
Please go here and support this restaurant if you are at all interested in food beyond consumption. It's not "cheap", but no fancy meal in Kauai is. This meal in Oahu/Maui or any other major city globally would easily fetch double the price. I would even say they are easily operating at the Michelin star level. If you are on vacation and forking out over $500+/night for a hotel, and wanted one fine dining splurge meal, you need to go here. Peter Merriman and Roy will be just fine without you :)
We were visiting for the week and stopped here for lunch because they had gluten free options. When I called, the server said they had gluten free corn bread, but when I arrived and asked a different server, I confirmed that it was not. I ordered the Sampler plate for $25.50 and it was enough for two people. My husband had the loaded fries (not gluten free).
Everything was great. I found the ribs to be a little dry and lacking meat but over all 5stars. Beautiful location in a shopping center. Blues and classic rock music played over the speakers. Fountain drinks and beers. Bbq sauce options.
Great street tacos and friendly staff make this a great place to eat, and if you are looking for a break from the heat then this place is perfect. Additionally, all of the tacos were gluten free. Prices were comparable to other places but it seemed like we got more for our money at one of the other taco restaurants.
Went last Saturday night. Had a Kavacolada and Kava Flow and some gluten-free food. Mellow music, fun crowd and laidback vibe. Picked up a Life Shot and Gold Kratom to go. Great "alternative" bar. Come take a look.
