Note: Only writing this to let the owner know in case they aren't aware of the celiac review apps and the recent change. It's otherwise an excellent place with amazing staff and food, hope that it can get resolved for the celiac community.
Something has gone wrong with their sourcing of gluten free ingredients.
I have celiac and suddenly after incorporating this restaurant into my diet my blood work numbers have exploded upwards. I track my numbers very closely multiple times a year and I've done a lot of elimination and it points pretty heavily towards this place as being the culprit. This also reflects in the reviews for find me gluten free website where people are getting violent reactions in the last year. Hopefully they eventually figure out where the gluten is coming from so that other celiac individuals and I can go back here again as their food is otherwise very tasty. I would recommend them to redo the testing that they once did in 2019 to figure out where the source of the problem is. Thank you
We had an amazing evening at The Firefly: the food was just amazing and the staff super nice! Thank you for providing a safe gluten free environment. We cannot recommend more this place
Awesome place to eat first time here in San Francisco, and being a gluten free celiac, they did the best gluten free double burger with lettuce buns I have ever had. Their fryer is also GF and the potatoes are cut on site.

It was a disappointment because online it states they have gluten free pizza with designated ovens. Not only they did not have it the waitress told us it is not a gluten friendly restaurant and that there is flour flying all over the place. Being celiac I walked out. Not nice at all. Celiac friends go across the street to Acquolina. Great service, atmosphere and gluten free options.
We went for happy hour and are immediately obsessed. $6 house margarita, fantastic. $3 street tacos, delicious. They have a community table, beautiful patio, nice music. Menu specifies dairy free, vegetarian option, gluten free, and spicy.
Great food! Options for vegans are good. The favorite is the big sweet potatoe fries with the buffalo sauce. The vegan gluten free pizza crust is soooo good.
Great service, very little wait. Pizzas were good, and love their gluten-free pizza options. Even though it’s a chain, it’s a nice place and worth the Uber!
I go here all the time for the sweet plantain bowl so I got it catered to my birthday party ! It was a super easy process and my guests said it was the best food they'd had catered at an event! We had vegan and gluten free people and so it was able to accommodate everyone :)
Incredible bowl of noodles! I have a gluten-free diet so it can be hard to find good pho/ramen. And the photo speaks for itself on how much I liked my bowl of rice noodles! Perfectly cooked and seasoned meat, rich broth, and just the right amount. I loved having the extras on the side so that I could personalize the flavoring. As for the atmosphere, I loved the Disco music softly playing but the chairs were a little uncomfortable.
A gluten free haven! Most items are GF as-is (please know that the restaurantis not 100% gluten free). I've been here multiple times now; the food is always flavorful and piping hot. My favorite has been the orange chicken, and the sesame and General Tso's is delicious too. My non-GF guests did not know it was GF either! My new favorite spot in the city
Delicious and nearly everything is gluten free, too. It was so good that we ate there one night and went back for lunch the next day to try some things we didn’t eat the night before.
Food was ok, came out quickly and service was great but it was busy and relatively loud while we were dining. The ramen was the most disappointing to me- noodles seemed borderline overcooked and the broth was just salty but with little actual flavour. I found it to be some of the more blah vegan dishes I’ve had in a while. It was either super spicy or just tasted like rice. The vegan cream cheese seemed a little off to be honest but that’s on me for not saying anything. I will say they’re great at accommodating allergies as I’ve heard they’ve accommodated gluten free + avocado allergy.
I'm a big fan of moonbowls!
-Excellent taste! I had the tofu bowl and really enjoyed the various toppings (you get upto 5). My favorites: fresno chiles, roasted corn, citrus kale.
-Fast delivery, everything was very fresh
-Vegans, vegetarians and gluten free people can easily order. Love that the menu is so nicely labeled.
-Other favorites: The various sauces (ginger-soy and creamy sesame), and sweet potato dumplings
These pupusas are too good! Literally had to come back the next day to get more after my first time trying them. I particularly love the large number of vegetarian options that they provide! Great gluten free place for those in your life as well! Tip on the tamales: the corn is fine, but the chicken is AMAZING. Just be careful of serving sizes because they do not shy away from large portions!
When I first arrived I asked about the gluten-free burritos and the first thing he said was that they were not a gluten-free restaurant but that they try their best to limit cross-contamination...so I ordered an El Pastor burrito and my husband ordered a steak burrito. I added some of the sauces from the sauce bar like pico de gallo, a spicy sauce, and the avocado sauce. Both of the burritos were delicious, however, 8 hours later both my husband and I were sick. I had severe cramps and diarrhea and my husband had diarrhea as well. This was not our typical reactions to gluten so I believe it was more likely food poisoning. I talked to Alex today about this and he was very apologetic and helpful. he said he could give us a refund but I mentioned to him that what's more important is to figure out why this happened, to make sure no one else gets sick. He told me that no one else got sick the rest of the day, but I reminded him that most people won't call or make the connection. He said that he would talk to the owner about it and make sure everything was kept at the proper temperature. I didn't see if they were using gloves when they filled and folded the burritos, but from now on, I will request that just in case it was a matter of unwashed employee hands... hopefully not. The place seemed clean otherwise, so it shouldn't be that! The music was too loud for us also... that's why I didn't give a 5 star atmosphere rating.
Freekeh is a hidden gem in SF and strikes that rare combination of amazing food, service, and ambiance.
We ordered a house sampler to try their various spreads and could not decide which one was our favorite- they were all that good, though the muhammara is a must-try! I am gluten intolerant and they happily accommodated me with homemade GF lavash-esque chips to go with the spreads.
We also got the cauliflower and three different skewers - would highly recommend the kufta and shish tawook (chicken); each came paired with different sauces and were incredibly well marinated and tender. We tried two desserts and loved the halawa o buza- creamy, nutty, and the perfect amount of sweet.
Our dining experience was complemented by the owner and waitress, who took great care of our table and simply radiated kindness and warmth. It was such a pleasure to dine here and we can’t wait to come back!
The Best empanadas I've ever eaten!!!
Served warm with generous filling, many vegetarian or gluten free options. I've tried the mushroom empanada and the banana and dulce de leche (sweet), they were both delicious and at a good price.
They have some good refreshing drinks too.
I definitely recommend!
Fantastic food and very lively energy! I have celiac disease and I was so excited to find gluten free options here and our server was knowledgeable about allergies. Every dish is made to order so they're able to make customizations based on dietary needs. Cocktails were awesome too. Super excited to have found this spot, looking forward to coming back soon.

A wonderful gem of a place in Little Italy. A family business, with the proprietors giving you a taste of real Italian humor should you give them an opening (try ordering a dry cappuccino, lol). It’s rather small and fills up fast, so plan for waiting if you’re heading there for dinner. Worth it, though. We had the Frutti de Mare Linguini (special), Lobster Ravioli and Funghi & Salsiccia pizza. They have gluten free options. Highly recommend!
Eating here elicits uncontrolled, primal noises of enthusiasm. The flavors and textures are things I will dream about. And it's food you can morally feel good about eating if that's something you think about. Amazing crunchy fried mushrooms that were also gluten free!! It's hard to find GF fried things that are amazing and yet here we are. I fear that as time passes I will be confused as to whether my memory of this experience was real life, or if it was instead, a dream.
Ordered:
N5 - Pad thai
E23 - Crispy Mushroom
E11 - Spicy lemongrass Deluxe
(This review is not hyperbolic - I'm just that jazzed.)
I was recommended this restaurant due to their gluten free selection. Loved the cauliflower as well as the mint tea. Thank you, Nathan, for being a fantastic server!
This place is amazing. I didn’t play any games but the vibe of people in there was great.
Food was amazing. Great to have a fully dedicated gluten free menu. I will 100% be back
Obsessed with this place! Can't believe we now live 2 minutes walk from it. Their thom kha soup is so delicious and creamy, my wife is addicted to it. Love that they have a variety of Thai and Laotian style dishes, which you don't find often. Their noodles are such glutenous goodness, really hits the spot when you want some comfort food.
Wow! Great time with the grandkids!
Service was great! Very patient with teens!
Excellent Gluten-Free options. Couldn’t eat the fries but they gave a yummy side salad as a substitute.
Parking is difficult because it’s on Pier 39… but worth the trip.
It’s Hard Rock… will definitely go again!
Me & my girlfriend had the loveliest dinner here. I found this place because they have gluten free pasta on the menu. They offer gluten free garlic fettuccine, which I appreciated so much because I cannot have gluten & have missed eating Italian food. I believe it is made in house. Our waiter was very personable & took my diet very seriously, even telling me what I can & cannot have. We had a caesar salad to start. I loved that they came to the table & freshly grated cheese & pepper. My scallops were cooked perfectly (it is so hard to find perfect scallops) & my girlfriend was impressed with her penne vodka & garlic fries. The only thing I would improve is my pasta was a little bit too al dente - probably needed another minute in the water because it was stiff. Otherwise my meal was amazing. Dessert was out of this world. We finished off with espresso & the chocolate raspberry mousse. I felt nostalgic & a bit emotional because I used to eat at restaurants like this all the time with my family, but have been unable to due to my unfortunate gluten free diet. The check came & I was surprised at how affordable it was. All in all a wonderful experience. Thank you Fino!
Outstanding steakhouse! The food, the service and environment were amazing! Our waiter was Rich and he was tremendous! I have a gluten allergy and Rich was knowledgeable about the menu and steered me in the right direction! Thanks for a great evening!
THE BEST Ramen I've had! Can't wait to go back and try a different one. I had the signature pork, and the pork belly just melts in your mouth....not the broth!. Delicious!
Also HUGE selling point, which brought us there was the Gluten Free Ramen!. My kiddo, who is GF said the noodles were just ok, but the rest of the soup was yummy!. Can't find many GF Ramen places so we will definitely be back!
The desserts are fun and tasty as well!
Can't say enough good things about this place, and it has been a while since I have dined-in at a restaurant and enjoyed it (probably since before the pandemic). Okay, so I am just going to go for it in this review with the intent that the owners see this and know that I recognize all the effort they put into this place to making it amazing. First of all, great staff. I went in with my small (pug) service dog my first time there, and a customer was very upset that I would be dining-in with her. He went on a tirade and stormed off after a staff member let him know that it's legally allowed (seemed like he didn't know about service dog rules and in all fairness, she didn't have her vest on at the time - though I did have it with me). In any case, once I settled in, the same staff member approached me and thanked me for staying in spite of that guy, which I found very cool. The food was excellent and comes out quick!! It's tough to find good vegan food in general AND I'm also gluten free; I was so pleased to see many options for GF as well. This next part is specifically meant for the owners/concept designers of this establishment - I really enjoyed the ample spacious, cozy seating for solo dining (I'm a frequent solo diner) and the streamlined approach to dining. I don't think they offer a traditional sit-down dining experience (I may be wrong though). I like how this place blends self-service with the sit-down atmosphere, it is the first time I have experienced this and I hope more restaurants follow suit. I think the whole having a server take your order, establish a phony rapport in hopes of big tips, then get stressed if a mistake is made, and guest waiting around for the check if it's slammed at a restaurant (traditional sit-down dining experience) needs to die. I was a server for roughly a decade and in all honesty, I think it's awkward for everyone involved and not that fun. The pandemic may have identified this pain point in the restaurant experience across the board and The Rad Radish took notice, well done!! If you are a diner that loves that song-and-dance, you may want to just do take-out from this place, or be brave and try a new (and in my opinion, better) way to dine. Oh, and the prices are VERY reasonable, gotta love that in these trying times!!! Thanks Rad Radish, for being... RAD!!! Will definitely return, keep on kicking ass!!
I was worried there wouldn't be anything for me to eat but the lamb clay hot pot was available gluten free and very tasty! It does have that numbing spice kick to it. I'd definitely order it again.
Overpriced & under seasoned... the concept of a Dracula themed kind of Restaurant is kind of cool but at the same time this fails so miserably in so many ways. The $50 Count Vladimir Steak is bland and flavorless watery mashed potatoes overcooked steak such a disaster. & disappointment. You would think being that you are in San Francisco you have no gluten-free bread or gluten-free options for people who would actually want to enjoy this food. And I hope you speak Spanish because nobody here speaks English so communication is going to be difficult for most. The concept is incredible unfortunately the food falls very very flat. The flavors I had on my steak were so bland and just weird broken oily sauce made no sense whatsoever and parsley which I absolutely hate spread all over my meat. My son ordered the ravioli which was clearly store-bought Frozen and cooked so not fresh though they advertise it as fresh. Very disappointing for my gluten-free guests because all they can have is a salad. My brother ordered the lasagna which he seemed to enjoy quite a bit. My younger son ordered the cheese pizza which I must say as somebody who makes pizza it was not very good. No flavor at all basic marinara sauce. I wanted the whole experience but the meal was so bad I just had to get me the heck out of here.
What really is just awful it took us 6 1/2 hours round trip to drive to San Francisco to honor my brother for a promotion he received at work. So when you finally get out of the city which takes forever and I mean forever. Sadly all you can think about is how horrible the experience was at The stinking Rose.
