Had 3 gluten free dishes, 2 shrimp (on menu) and they were able to do fried rice gluten free. Service was quick except they were backed up on the fried rice service (sizzling plate served on table). Food was tasty and reasonably priced. Place often has a long line but it tends to go quickly. Saw Peter the owner a couple times grabbing food and bringing in various supplies.
The best non-sauced gluten-free chicken wings I've ever had. SOOOOO crispy, thanks to the cornstarch batter. And the beef and eggplant is also delicious!
This place has been such a staple in my life, such a go-to place, it never even occured to me to write a review - I'd rather just go eat there again! But seeing the ridiculously low current rating for Lucky Creation here (only 4.2) I wanted to do try and nudge it in the right direction - UP.
Listen, I get it: The place isn't fancy. To non-Chinese customers who've never been there before, the service may seem gruff. But they have been dishing out an incredible, delicious variety of very affordable vegetarian Chinese food since the world was young.
My experience there has always been more than good. Example: When I lived in SF I ate there several times a month. Then I moved out of state and didn't get back to LC for four or five years. When I went back the first time after that break, and was standing outside, one of the waitresses saw me, recognized me (!!!) and waved me inside - AND she asked me if I wanted my favorite dish, the Sweet & Sour Pork. AFTER YEARS she remembered all that. So, for me, as a white woman, I can say that those customers who are put off by the service...Give it time. These are actually some of the nicest restaurant owners I have ever known.
And the food is ALWAYS AMAZING. Sweet & Sour Pork, Almond Chicken, the Gluten Puffs, etc. It's the only thing that makes me wish i still lived in SF.
As loyal patrons of Hinodeya Ramen Bar, we appreciate their commitment to offering high-quality vegan and gluten-free options. While they have various locations in San Francisco, this was our first visit to this particular one.
We ordered the Creamy Vegan Ramen, which was beautifully presented, as seen in the photo. The vegetables were exceptionally fresh, the broth had a perfectly balanced consistency, and the crispy kale added a delightful textural contrast. The portion was also quite generous, we were full.
Service was great—Bun and the rest of the team were attentive, well mannered and accommodating. The restaurant itself is clean and well-maintained, with the added bonus of outdoor seating for those who prefer dining al fresco.
With such consistently excellent food and service, Hinodeya Ramen Bar remains a favorite, and we will definitely return.
Everything was delicious, food is halal. I needed to pray asr and the owner turned off the music without me asking. Such a kind gesture! Thank you so much! They have gluten free pizza 🍕
I'll tell you what. In this day and age if you don't have my consent for something to consume at your restaurant and charge me, even if it's 1$, it's a strike. I didn't know the tea was 1$ and I didn't want it necessarily, but the waitress placed it and walked away and only after perusing the menu did I realize I was paying for it. Not cool.
The food was alright. The options seem like a lot, but they are all deep fried tofu, gluten, or veggies. The Singapore style noodles would have made for good drunk food, but it wasn't packing any distinct flavors that made me light up. The golden basket, with a smorgasbord of fried stuff, looked good on arrival, but they all fell flat in taste.
This place is definitely a comfort cuisine kinda place that you would crave late night after a few drinks, but I wouldn't come here for a gourmet experience.
This restaurant is a true hidden gem located a couple blocks away from Chinatown. The owner was extremely hospitable and accommodating to my dietary restrictions. I ordered the bolognese (gluten free) and the pavlova — both were very delicious. Highly recommend this place!
