Gorgeous decor with friendly waitstaff and delicious Thai fare. We had a table on the rooftop terrace, which felt nice on a cooler summer night. It was also less noisy and felt more conducive to conversation than the dining room downstairs. Recommend the rooftop if you’re on a date, or with a smaller party. The gluten free offerings were great- basically a variety off the regular menu made without soy sauce. I had the drunken noodles, and it was fresh and flavorful. My date had the pad Thai, and I loved the level of spice for the medium dish (my idea of mild). Will definitely return to try more on the menu!
tl;dr: Jessica -- and the restaurant -- knew how to handle our gluten-free requirements and put us at ease doing so.
A member of the family has late-onset gluten intolerance and we have not been going to restaurants but we heard The Bristol knew about GF cooking. We tried them and our server, Jessica, gave is the GF menu and assured us the kitchen knew how to avoid cross-contamination. She did an excellent job putting us at ease and making appropriate suggestions and explaining what was safe to eat. The food, as always, was excellent, however, what we will remember is how our server helped us understand and exercise our options.
Absolutely divine with accommodating gluten free options, amazing service, and delicious pasta. I couldn’t afford to eat here everyday but it is a great treat.
At Joe's Kansas City Bar-B-Q having PROPER KC Burnt Ends. Melt in your mouth!!! my sister and I both have a gluten sensitivity so it's good to go to a place that takes it seriously. I loved how they had their gluten-free buns right up front away from everything that could possibly cross contaminate them. Each individually wrapped just so you know. Finding Kansas City burnt ends that aren't fat floating in grease like they are at a certain restaurant in Saint Augustine, well, it can be difficult. You can't call him KC burnt ends if you don't do it right. It was wonderful to have proper melting your mouth not too much fat not too burnt burnt ends. If you know you know.
We got there just ahead of the rush on a Friday evening. We had dumplings, pan fried, and the salmon special, along with the cheesecake wonton dessert. This was my first meal eating out since following the AIP Modified Elimination diet- I was ready to reintroduce soy/ edamame. Even with the little bit of gluten and dairy I seem to be 100% okay with this reintroduction! So grateful because our meal there was a little taste of heaven!!! Cannot wait to go back.
As a Functional Nutritionist I can’t express how wonderful it is to know there’s a place where myself and clients can still enjoy time out with friends and family while not compromising our nutrition goals. No seed oils and so many gluten and vegan options! And the food was amazing!
The food was great and reasonably priced. There was a large gluten-free menu to choose from, and the servers were well versed in understanding a gluten free diet. Can't wait to go back!
I ordered a catered lunch for the staff at my office today. Lunch was a huge hit! The management made sure to lettuce wrap some of the burgers for the gluten free folks. Communication was excellent. Some folks who had never tried the veggie burger said it was the best they've ever had. Thank you for a great lunch! Will be ordering it again :)
This place has a cute vibe! My server Daniel was on point. I mentioned my food allergies and he made sure everything was made sesame and gluten free. Would definitely go again.
Mel was AMAZING tonight and had our orders down to the T. My wife has celiac disease and she was very aware of what she could and could not have. If you haven't been it's a must!!
I just moved to the neighborhood from downtown KCMO. Naturally I wanted to try food nearby where I now live. One neighbor introduced me to this restaurant. Thus I took his suggestion to dine with him last Wednesday night. Since he told me what he normally orders, I ordered salmon sandwich under the same Handheld category. My dish was super and the server was also great who brought me hot water three times with extra lemon pieces. If I paid the bill, I would tip her well! Oh, salmon was well done and it went well with gluten-free bread. I don’t care for bacon so my order didn’t have it. Fries were okay since I dipped them with honey mustard instead of ketchup!
I certainly will come again at happy hour around 5:30 pm. My aim is to sit at the bar to chat with whoever happens to sit right next to me!
I love it when I can find restaurants that are Celiac and allergy-friendly, and vegan. The food was so delicious, this is my 2nd visit, and I will come again. It was my birthday so I knew I could choose a vegan restaurant and my dad wouldn't complain too much. Apparently he didn't read the menu very well because he expected the All American Burger to be meat!
I have celiac disease and I can eat here with no problems at all. They take good care of you as a celiac person and make sure your food is prepared properly. I appreciate them and the knowledge their servers have of Celiac disease I would highly recommend
*There are gluten free options!
Picked up a country fried steak to go. I ordered online, and it was ready to go by the time I arrived. The option for fetta on my scrambled eggs was a delightful surprise. Four stars because I have not dinned in, which I will have to fix soon.
To preface I feel bad for writing this because there is a sign in the restaurant that says "we read all reviews." And they answer a majority of them. We arrived right at opening time for lunch on a Saturday. We were greeted by the entire staff waiting in line which I thought was a great touch. We ordered the pork gyoza, tonkotsu, and spicy creamy chicken. We paid before receiving food which was a mistake in hindsight because I tipped 20% before several mistakes were made with our orders. The first round wasn't gluten free noodles. The second round wasn't even our food. And the third round was ours but only one had gluten free noodles. All brought by different servers so it felt like the tip wasn't really reflective of the level of service. The lunch hour seemed rushed which wasn't as relaxing as I was hoping it to be. The pork slices were somehow cold and wasn't flavorful at all. I might consider coming back at a different time or day because I love ramen. I see a lot of high reviews so I'm sure people there do enjoy it. It just didn't hit the spot with me.
Creative burgers made with 100% gourmet japanese Wagyu beef or vegetarian options. Comfortable inside with nice ambiance. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good prices.
We had the CEO burger, Conflicted burger and a regular cheeseburger. All were very good and we would buy them again. We also tried several of the sauces on the side. The jalapeno ranch was particularly delicious and not too spicy. We are from out of town and these burgers are even better than the ones we can get in LA. Wish there was one near our house.
(They have a lettuce wrapped option too for those avoiding carbs or gluten!)
Sensational. This is our go to restaurant for the BEST food in the city. Excellent service, great atmosphere and the food is perfection. They are wonderful for those who are gluten free. 10/10 . It’s also a great place for cocktails. Well worth every dollar spent! Love it!
Wow!! What an amazing experience! This place is really lovely. I have been afraid to eat seafood in KC other than catfish or local fare since there is no ocean nearby.
Aqua Penny's is FANTASTIC!! We had the lobster Rangoon appetizer, a cup of gumbo and we shared the Seafood Pad Thai with shrimp, squid and bay scallops. It was truly delicious! They fly in their seafood. Penny makes sure it's fresh.
Our server, Christina was just perfect. You should ask for her. She brought me a Thai spice tray with jalapeños, dry Thai spices, red pepper paste and spicy fish sauce with peppers. I was able to spice mine up and my wife kept hers medium as ordered.
For dessert we had the pistachio cake with the poached pear, a nice gluten free option.
My wife and I will be back.
