We were in the area and looking for somewhere tasty to go for lunch, and after seeing the reviews, we decided we wanted to come to blackies!
Even though we were a walk in, they were able to accommodate us and accommodate us, they did.
Most of the menu can be made GF, and there are pages, upon pages to this menu. Not only did I enjoy my meal (I got the French Onion Cheesesteak with Fries and it was SUPERB 🤌🏽), but my gluten eating family also had a meal. My Dad even said it was the BEST Ruben he's ever had (and he loves a ruben).
Since it was our first time there, our wonderful server was able to field all of my GF/Celiac-related questions with ease.
The restaurant is owned by two lovely women: one of whom has Celiac. They have dedicated fryers, AND they have separate kitchen tools (knives, utensils, cutting boards, aprons, etc.) for the preparation of GF meals. On top of all that, my food was brought out FIRST and SEPARATELY. Our server even brought out a new bottle of ketchup with my food so that there wasn't any CC.
I felt so well taken care of by the staff, and so safe while we were there, it was a new level of Celiac-care in this dining experience. I cannot more highly recommend blackies if you're ever in RI/Providence!!!
We were in Rhode Island for a few days to visit family, and we were so glad we found Tavolo. We ate here 2x in 2 nights... it was amazing! The gluten free pasta was cooked perfectly and was the best bolognaise I've ever had. The wine list was fantastic, and the service was absolutely impeccable!
I've been by here so many times and never knew they were in this plaza.
We are glad we stopped by and had an amazing dinner.
Great place. The food was excellent. The service was even better from the boy scouts.
Cira our waitress was wonderful. She is so sweet.
Great conversation with the owner ( or her husband) Bernie.
We will definitely be be back.
I could point out their RI monthly best, but love this photo better.. btw.. I love the rest room art... You will have to go for yourselves for that one.
I also hear they have amazing options for those with celiac who need gluten free options.
I can tell you this...first off, a spacious parking area.
Convenient to entering and exiting. And a few handicap spots...close to the entrance.
Anyway, Papa Gino's...has a phenomenal menu.
To suit a pallet.
For instance, I am on a nutrition plan, I looked to see if they had something..well..they did..I ordered a generous salad...which had a great mixture of garden vegetables...fresh, mind you...then adding the dressing.. delicious.
The pizza I ordered was " gluten free".. they called it something else..but let's face it..it was a margarita pizza..but nonetheless " delicious"..
The price was very reasonable and I could see why..
When I was waiting...the team was busy with many patrons..
I was ready to pick up my order but one of the courteous staff brought it to my table.
Now, being a retired hotel & restaurant worker... Always look for the moment to take care of the guest.
