Wonderful South Indian food served by delightful, attentive, waiters.
I am not gluten intolerant but there is a distinct difference between this and other Indian restaurants. The meal does not weigh heavy afterwards. It’s very noticeable.
Try the salty lassi (lusi) and the paper dosa. It’s easy to over order but the waiters offer to bag the leftovers.
Just go. You’ll love it.
Great Indian food and everything is gluten free! Nice lunch special. Helpful staff. Very spacious restaurant with bathroom available. Easy to find street parking nearby.

Food was delicious staff very friendly and helpful. My only little issue was we ordered the sharer street food meal. It was advertised as gluten free option but we weren’t told that that the starter and bread were not gluten free. If we had known that we would have ordered differently.
Had a very enjoyable meal. Great gluten free choices if you are a coeliac so a real treat. Curries cooked to perfection! Ali very welcoming, great service and many thanks for the free starters. Highly recommend a visit when in Glasgow.
I have visited Chaakoo numerous times at both West End and City Centre locations in Glasgow, always enjoying excellent service and gluten-free meals, which I frequently recommended to others. However, during my recent visit, I discovered that their menu has changed significantly, with only one salad and a couple of desserts remaining gluten-free. Most dishes now contain gluten, use ingredients that may contain gluten, or are prepared in areas with gluten, including the rice! Despite noting my coeliac disease and gluten-free requirements in my booking, I was not informed of these menu changes. It's disappointing to see the restaurant regress in accommodating gluten-free diners, and I won't be returning or recommending.
Madha – A Taste of Home in Glasgow
I recently had a wonderful family dinner at Madha – North & South Indian Kitchen, and it was an experience worth sharing. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm hospitality and a clean, elegant ambiance that instantly made us feel comfortable.
We started our meal with a refreshing lassi, which was perfectly creamy and balanced in sweetness—just like how it’s made back home. For the main course, we indulged in a chicken biryani that was bursting with authentic flavors, Butter chicken paired with freshly made, soft naan that complemented the meal beautifully. Every bite reminded me of home-cooked food, rich in tradition and taste.
One thing I truly appreciated was the vegan and gluten-free options available on the menu, ensuring that everyone, regardless of dietary needs, could enjoy a wholesome meal.
If you’re missing home-cooked meals, don’t think twice—Madha is the place to be. The authentic flavors, excellent service, and cozy atmosphere make it a perfect spot for a comforting Indian dining experience in Glasgow. Highly recommended!
This is my go-to for Indian food in Glasgow. I regularly order takeaway and it’s always consistently great – full of flavour and really well made. I visited the restaurant for the first time today and it was just as good in person. The food was excellent and the staff were friendly, welcoming, and happy to help.
I’m gluten free and really appreciate how many of the curries and sides on the menu are clearly marked and safe to eat – there's loads of choice and everything I’ve tried has been spot on.
Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for quality Indian food in Glasgow!
The best way to define ranjit’s to me is straightfoward. The focus is on the quality of food and it never disappoints. The place itself is interesting, but be mindful you might need to share a table with strangers if it’s busy. In my experience it’s always fine, but might not be your cup of tea. Don’t forget to try the cheese pakora, the daal, and the chickpeas curry. Almost everything in the menu is gluten free, including bread, and vegetarian. Highly recommended
Food is amazing and spicy! They have a special menu for allergies (a lot of plates are gluten free) but they warned about cross contamination! Waiters are helpful and nice, great atmosphere (the room is also beautifully decorated with colourful furniture) and they have a convenient menu offer (1 starter, 1 main and 1 side for 9.99£). Portions are big! Definitely a must go if you like Indian food!
Very tasty restaurant… great service, great food. Will definitely come back. We had a relaxed and wonderful dinner. Has a variety of dishes for vegan, vegetarian or gluten free.
I had a great experience at The Indian on Skirving Street. Most of the menu is gluten-free. Be cautious with the pakoras; the waiter checked if a gluten-free fryer was available since they sometimes use the same fryer for samosas. We decided to skip them. The curries were all gluten-free ( I had no reaction from the meal ) and delicious. I'll definitely return.
Lovely menu with most dishes gluten free. Very amiable and attentive staff.
We went on Saturday prior to a matinee at the Tron Theatre so had the pre-theatre menu which is very reasonable. Music is played at a suitable volume to allow you to chat without having to raise your voice!
Ideal location for the theatre too.
The waiter was so kind!! He was knowledge and double checked the ingredients of the items we ordered.
Amazing gluten free options. The pakora was delicious!!! They only fry them in gram flour (chickpea) and corn flour. And they don't add any flours to their curries.
Basically all i couldn't eat was the naan.
Best part was, everything was delicious. I came back here a second night during my stay just for the pakora.
