Very highly recommended. Overall, an excellent B&B in the centre of Ambleside with a café and its own bakery. It has a slightly quirky off-beat feel but it is high quality. All the staff were terrific. BUT beware of the being allocated an attic room where there are two low roof beams, a step and low archway from the room front door into the bedroom and a low ceiling as you exit the room to go down the stairs. However, we passed rooms on the lower floors and they looked fabulous.
Breakfast in the café next door was enormous with gluten avoiding options and great coffee! The bakery makes excellent bread and cakes, fresh every day. The bath buns are enormous and my non coeliac wife drooled!
As the gluten containing products and gluten free products are baked in the same bakery, the café quite correctly informs those of the Coeliac persuasion that while the gluten free products are made with non gluten ingredients, the bakery cannot guarantee that there is no cross contamination with gluten containing products. I had gluten free bread for breakfast and sampled the café’s gluten free falafel wrap and apple pie, all of which were excellent and I had no digestive problems. Those who are very sensitive with the Coeliac allergy might feel the need to avoid these gluten avoiding products.
Parking in front of the B&B is limited and difficult to access but there is plenty of designated off-street parking a couple of minutes away.
quite nice, service was slightly slow however quite busy in the restaurant and outside.
lots of gluten free options available, quite accommodating for most allergens.
food was nice however wish the “nibbles plate” came with an oil or butter for the bread as it was a little dry.
Great night at lucy's on a plate.
The menus are printed daily with a lovely daily notice on the front which i thought was a lovely touch.
The food was delicious, great portion sizes and there were lots of gluten free options for my boyfriend.
The steak was cooked great and was served with a heaping of garlic butter and peppercorn sauce (the garlic butter is insane)
My only downside of the food was the chicken was slightly overcooked but the flavours of the dish and other components were great so balanced it out
Staff were on the whole good, welcoming. Knocked a star off because the relaxed environment meant that staff often were talking a lot to the guests and it took a while to get our orders in.
Delicious breakfast and excellent coffee! Stopping through Ambleside on our way to Penrith after some hiking and couldn't recommend Copper Pot enough! Suitable for the coffee snobs, a range of vegetarian, dairy free and gluten free options with plenty of delicious cakes. Reasonably priced. Very friendly and helpful staff, we were made to feel very welcome immediately. Even though the menu states "We don't have a build your own menu option" staff were very happy to swap bread around, remove items, offer additional sauces etc. Plenty of dogs inside and out, we would definitely recommend (especially for anyone missing their dose of a Melbourne-like cafe) !
*One thing I would advise is arriving early on the weekend if you don't have a booking. We walked in as a group of two and were seated straight away but literally the last table free, 5 minutes after opening. Food service was quick though so people after us weren't waiting too long for a table.
It’s always tricky eating out as a coeliac (gluten allergy), however I really appreciated the effort that the staff went to this evening to rectify a mistake with my order of gluten free food. A whole new meal was cooked and they provided a drink on the house. The food and atmosphere were both great. Thanks team!
Fantastic food and service. Brilliant gluten-free alternatives of every pasta dish and pizza. Our pizza and pasta dishes were excellent, and the service was efficient and friendly! Recommended!
The food here is incredible, extremely welcoming atmosphere. Come in for a chat with the owner and find out where your food comes from :) (p.s if you’re GF or coeliac you’re gonna want to come visit, their entire menu is GF)
What a lovely find!
Stumbled across this place looking for a place to eat on saturday night and the waiter did his best to get us in.
The staff were wonderful with our allergens. The menu is helpfully listed but the staff took extra care to make sure the food we ate was safe for gluten, nuts and prawns!
The food was absolutely incredible too! I had a wonderful meal with lots of delicious thai flavours. My favourite dish has to be the chicken phad seyu - that was absolutely delicious.
Absolutely brilliant in here.
We visit Ambleside regularly and have always wandered past saying we need to go in, so a couple of weeks ago on our most recent visit we went in for a couple of drinks earlier in the day then for food later on.
It’s Dog Friendly which is great for us, had plenty of Gluten Free options which we also require and a high chair available for our little boy.
There’s a great selection on draft including plenty of good ales along with some from the Salt Brewery which is fantastic.
The food was top notch, we had some fantastic loaded burgers and chips but the pizzas which were being brought out looked delightful and think next time we return I’ll be trying one of these.
Lovely atmosphere, plenty of room, great ale and class food, 10/10 for this place.
It’s located right next to Rydal Road Car Park so nice and convenient for all.
Pleasantly surprised when we found this place when passing, the food was great and they also catered for my gluten free diet. A bonus to us was the fact that they were dog friendly (limited tables) which enabled us to enjoy the experience without having to get it in a takeaway. Highly recommend
