Great find, being gluten intolerant it is a rare event when I can choose anything from the menu and not have any worries about cross contamination.
The service was attentive and prompt, the food very good. We opted for Haddock and chips with a side of home made Yorkshire caviar (mushy peas). Fully recommended.
Warm and reasonably comfortable seating. Cannot fault the prices, food or service. One has gluten, soya, milk intolerances but was catered for with personal attention and explanations. Prices are around £8.95 per plate with a few cheaper options but great choices, good servings and speedy service. Usually busy and popular with parking in the grounds. Good selection of cakes and hot drinks with specials on board.
I have to say, I’ve had different kebabs from around the world and I absolutely love this one. They remove the pita so it’s gluten free for me. Chips and chicken kebab are excellent!
I booked this restaurant for a family meal to celebrate my wife's birthday (she loves Mexican food). There were 12 of us and we were seated downstairs on request to make a more private affair. The entire experience was wonderful. Good food and a warm service. One of the children has coeliac with the menu full of gluten free dishes, clearly labelled. Parking outside the restaurant has restrictions, however there is a pay car park a short walk away.
As per usual very good. Bar service is not always as good as it could be as staff are around tables (which is obviously the point), but it means the bar is neglected for those sitting in the front area (see photo). Even just as the Beefeater opens, managers seem to be too busy to ensure staff are efficiently helping customers at the bar, I waited 4 mins, plus serving time for a coffee (about 6-7mins), and just as long for a Pepsi refill. But most often I was served immediately.
Having said all that, I wouldn't want to put a negative impact on this place, the food is usually good and the lunch-time deals are particularly good value, for example £5 for the lasagne.
There is a large menu and some great options for Vegetarians and those intolerant to Gluten (Ceoliacs). Although, I wouldn't advise Vegetarians sitting near the front kitchen if they don't like the smell of beef. It is called a Beefeater after all 😉
The décor is modern with a touch of traditional, and the wall hangings are certainly beef orientated! 🐄 Most areas are well lit, and staff are happy to sit you where you want, when the restaurant isn't too busy.
It's never going to be Michelin star, but you don't go to a Beefeater expecting that. As far as I'm concerned it's well cooked and good value for money.
Kitchen staff moving between the main (back)and front kitchen (the one you see) could be a bit more subtle, and should be asking bar staff for jugs of lemonade/pepsi as it looks odd to have a food-covered cook standing pouring a drink...
Usually a positive experience overall.
