Has a large vegan/vegetarian selection, which is pretty good. Injera is delicious and definitely the highlight. Quality of the dishes seems to vary on the day I've noticed, on a good day it's pretty fantastic.
Service can be somewhat slow and inattentive, it's difficult to split checks if you have a large group too. Will provide gluten free injera if you call in advance which is a plus.
Food was delicious! We had the classic burger and the spicy version (belly burger). Both were very good. My gluten free bun was probably the best I've ever had- not gf spongy at all (in the kitchen sponge type of way most gf buns are). Only down side was the fries were not safe. Could upgrade to a salad for 4 dollars, but I decided not to. Burger was already pretty pricey. We will probably be back, though as there aren't a lot of comparable, delicious options!
Highly recommended!!
We selected the 5-course prix fixe option. Every dish was an unfolding of flavors with each bit. Chef Patty suggested closing our eyes when eating first course ( Basil leaf roll-up thing), which was spot on as it truly enhanced the experience.
Added bonus: most of menu is or can be made gluten free
I often come here for lunch. The lunch specials are really tasty. They offer sushi specials with raw and cooked options. Also cooked meals like pad Thai and basil chicken. I enjoy the Thai iced tea. They are very welcoming to solo diners, which is much appreciated. I recommend the taro custard for dessert. I also have the ramen here, which they will make with rice noodles for gluten-free diners.

We loved our dinner! Delicious sushi, friendly and helpful staff. They were very helpful with gluten free options, and they carry gluten free soy sauce. This is our new sushi spot!
A Hidden Gem in the Neighborhood — We’ll Be Back!
My wife and I had an absolutely fantastic experience at Pizzeria Aroma in Chicago. From start to finish, everything exceeded our expectations.
We kicked things off with their handcrafted margaritas—balanced, fresh, and perfectly made. Then came the salads, which were far from your standard “simple” dinner salads. Each ingredient was neatly chopped, fresh, and beautifully presented.
For dinner, we ordered three gluten-free pizzas: a 10" gluten-free pizza for me, another 10" flat pizza with cheese, sausage, and veggies for my wife, and a medium cheese and sausage pizza to bring home for the kids. Every pie was flavorful, crisp, and clearly made with care—gluten-free or not.
To cap off the evening, we shared a slice of flourless chocolate cake sourced from a local, family-owned bakery. Rich, satisfying, and—like everything else—completely gluten-free.
Service throughout the meal was superb: attentive, friendly, and relaxed, which made our lazy 4th of July dinner feel like a real break from the grind.
This is a family-run spot that takes pride in its food and it shows. We’ll absolutely be back to explore more of the menu—especially after reading so many other glowing reviews. Pizzeria Aroma is officially on our go-to list.
Highly recommend!
I have come here for lunch several times. The staff is always super friendly and attentive. There are lots of gluten-free options. I especially enjoy the chicken and rice soup. The broth has a great flavor. Tastes like fresh stock. They have lunch specials, but I usually order a main dish on its own. The pad Thai is good and so is the basil chicken. The restaurant is right next to the Granville red line stop but the noise blends into the background.
