Review for spa, treatment and afternoon tea…
So to be fair the spa is fairly cheap compared to other spas so I didn’t expect the facilities to be rudding park level. It was nice, nice and clean, small pool with jacuzzi jets (not particularly strong), sauna steam room and loungers. The treatment was nice. We had back massages, it wasn’t the kind of massage that will help back ache as didn’t penetrate muscles and felt more like a relaxing 25 minutes of light Effleurage. However, the changing rooms - no cubicles . So when we arrived we were all getting changed (8+) in a small area trying to manoeuvre around each other. The timings for the treatment were a bit annoying - ten minutes late starting then obviously once your clothes are off and they start another 5 minutes and once you “come round”, get dressed and come out it’s another 5. Yet we were 30 mins from start to finish so it 100% was NOT a 30 minute treatment. And as stated earlier the massages are nice but feel like you’re just getting oil lightly rubbed in. But it is nice!
Afternoon tea was 20 minutes late, service was just ok. We didn’t get our tea but when we asked 5 minutes before they end she said “yes you get tea or coffee”… usually this is asked first thing. It was good food and I would give food 4*, FYI I am gluten free and it was very good (usually everything just crumbles to pieces!). No clearing of the plates as we went along so table very cramped.
You’re given one robe , one medium sized towel and despite us (and others) saying how freezing it was walking around in soaking robes and towels .. having to put that back on after treatment… never offered for fresh. Somebody asked in the end and to be fair got another towel. It’s just there isn’t that initiative to offer and the details are absolutely missing here.
So my overall rating is 3*, lovely food and it’s clean. Service just ok, treatments ok and if it’s full it feels cramped. I did expect better service and attention to the finer details but you do pay less on balance!
