$39 lobster tortelloni (not tortellini) • freshly made, lobster veloute, fried garlic, butter crumb, Aleppo pepper. Three stars.
First time visiting @cov_restaurants in Edina & I do think the location is pristine & adorable. The ambiance is cute & Lori was such an amazing server. We got a patio spot & sat next to some real snooty bougie people, so we asked to switch & seat inside & Lori was more than accommodating. I asked if she’d still be our server & she said she wouldn’t be as she was off soon, but she stayed with us & I am so happy she did. I wish there were more Lori’s out there in the service industry (Lori at Lindey’s is amazing too!)
Moving on to this dish. Ehhh, freshly made, ok, but flavor, not $39 worth of amazing. For all I know, the lobster inside the tortelloni’s are imitation crab or crab as the pieces were finely chopped & stuffed into the pasta. I got one visible claw. I don’t think this basic tasting pasta dish is worth $39, but it filled me up. The flavor wasn’t all there for me, just tasted like a glorified Mac & cheese
$20 PEI mussels • house made chorizo, tomato fumet & a side of grilled baguette. Five stars!
Some of the better & more flavorful mussels I’ve had. Normally I like my mussels in a white wine sauce, but these are great! & I actually dipped the baguette into the chorizo fumet sauce! Which I never do with mussels. Definitely recommend this appetizer when visiting @cov_restaurants
I had one unopened mussel, so I can say the quality of this batch is pretty good compared to what happened at Crave in Maple Grove where more than 2/3 of my mussels were empty or lacked in quality
