In the center of Madrid, near the Caixa Forum and the Prado Museum, I found El Fogón Verde.
A small, simple restaurant, with a certain charm... friendly service, to eat with family, friends...
On their website, they define themselves as "100% agroecological, vegetarian and cooperative."
I admit, I was only familiar with the word "vegetarian" in the context of a restaurant, so a quick read of their website revealed to me that there is more to this restaurant than just "serving food" and using the word -organic- as a hook.
They talk about "We cook exclusively seasonal and local foods, also produced without pesticides and from local projects."
They boast "of knowing who has grown each of the ingredients in the dishes" they cook.
Anyway, for those who read this review, I invite you to read your website in advance, "on low heat", as I will do on the way home.
But... and what I ate? Well...
First, the stew soup (without noodles, I shouldn't eat gluten), with several homemade flavors.
For the second, I followed the suggestion of a friend of a friend, who was at the next table, Pumpkin and Leek Pie with tomato sauce, with a soft texture (I would even say creamy) and the sauce, with a real tomato flavor 🍅.
For dessert, Banana and Peanut Ice Cream, again, creamy, with pieces of banana (pleasant surprise).
The attention, kind, attentive, María explained some of the preparations to me.
I waited a few minutes, although El Fogón Verde was almost full at 2:50 pm when I arrived.
I give 5 stars and I will return.
