Mohonk Mountain House

Our family spent magnificent time at Mohonk. It was challenging to enjoy all the available activities with a toddler but we managed to get most of it. Trails with different difficulty level kept the active part of our family busy. The little one was so happy about the lake beach and playing in the sand with other kids. Our 10 year old was busy catching salamanders in the lake. The man of the family was on the mission to catch some fish and the lake had a lot fish to offer. Fish feeding was fun for everyone. Horses, boats, mini golf, music, campfires, inside pool, billiard, and list goes on and on what to do. Our rooms were cozy with beautiful views. Service was excellent, everything was taken care of by the service members. The restaurants were great! No long wait to be seated and served with drinks. It was nice to have menus rotate in the main dining room and all the dishes were so tasty. They definitely carry a lot of healthy options when it comes to food and it’s easy to match gluten free diet and vegetarian or vegan diet. It was amazing to have lunch at the Granary as it’s located right above the lake beach and you can enjoy your food over the lake. The only thing I’d suggest for improvement is the playground area as it seems very empty and not as attractive to the kids.

The staff was excellent! Big shout out to Steve (manager) and Zach at the front desk. The resort is huge. There were a lot of activities to do for adults. My husband and I enjoyed our anniversary celebration very much. My advice is to book spa services or other activities well in advanced. We couldn't get into anything. The food was average and they are able to accommodate gluten free meals. I did knock off a star b/c of the food (I became ill after lunch). Also the room was a bit disappointing. We had a lovely fireplace in the room; however, every time we started a fire the room filled up with smoke. Luckily we could open the balcony door but it made the room cold & dampened the mood. Overall I recommend the Mohonk, especially to couples or families with children over the age of 10. The grounds are beautiful and you really get to experience nature first hand.
