Olde Nola Cookery

Upon returning from the swamp to where we were all hungry, so we had the bus drop us off on canal street. We dined at Olde Nola Cookery a family-owned gem nestled right on Bourbon Street in the heart of the French Quarter. Its motto—“Cooked by Locals, Spiced with History”—captures the spirit of the place perfectly, they also accommodate gluten-free which is an added bonus! The menu is a celebration of classic New Orleans fare: think Cajun and Creole staples and their much-loved gator bites. Seafood is a standout there, we had dishes like blackened alligator salad, gluten free crab cakes, tender half rack pork ribs and shrimp po’boys. They also offer vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options, which is a thoughtful touch for a city not always known for dietary flexibility. The atmosphere is quintessentially French Quarter—colorful, a little rowdy, and full of character. With three dining rooms and a balcony overlooking Bourbon Street, it’s a great spot for people-watching or soaking in the sounds of the city while enjoying a meal If you’re ever in the mood for a meal that feels like a love letter to New Orleans—bold, soulful, and just a little indulgent—Olde Nola Cookery might be your spot.

Ronald was THE best server, ever. He truly made our dinner experience that much better. The food was amazing and the crab cakes are absolutely to die for, even the gluten ones! They were very accommodating to our food allergies. Cannot recommend this place enough. I would return to NOLA just for this dinner and experience again!
