Really nice staff, lovely welcome and held our bags when we arrived before check in.
Close to the town, plenty of parking, nice views.
Unfortunately the room wasn't up to scratch, the bed was a small double, overly soft mattress, with a frame that sounded like you were standing on monkeys anytime you moved. Terrible night's sleep. Shower rail was also very loose and seemed as if it was going to come off the wall when adjusting the head.
Breakfast was reasonable, although no gluten free sausage available for my partner (which are widely available to buy even in supermarkets), and my Scottish breakfast had link not lorne sausage, the best bit about a Scottish fry missing.
Edited upon response from the owner: did you actually try and blame our discomfort sleeping on not spending enough in a room?
I didn't see anywhere on the website that said "soft, saggy and creaky" when booking. All rooms should be comfortable, a decent night's sleep is not a luxury but an expectation from a hotel.
Poor excuse for breakfast as well, the butchers round the corner next to the bakers had gluten free sausages, black pudding and haggis, and you can keep gf sausages for months frozen, which any gf guest would be fine, with as they'd rather have something frozen than nothing.
Droplets of fat make cooking lorne unfeasible? How does any kitchen operate a deep fat fryer then? Never heard such rubbish in my 8 years in food hospitality.
However you cooked my link, bacon, black and haggis pudding could've been applied to a piece of lorne.
Downgraded the review due to the owners ridiculous response, take some responsibility instead of blaming the guest.
