I've been here twice with my wife and our friends. We travelled down from Edinburgh. They have gluten free options for myself and a very good overall menu. On both visits the food has been excellent, good atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff. Many thanks.

Had really high hopes for this, it was just OK to good, for the price you pay. There are better places in this price range. When I booked, I'd booked a table for 5 adults and a child (stated in phone call). Upon arrival we were seated in the restaurant then moved to another area as the dining room is adult only. That's fine, but tell me at the time of booking :) Our waiter was really helpful and described the menu really well. Scallops starter was alright, scallops were tasty but the sauce was a wee bit watery and not great seasoning. Olives and bread were lovely, the nachos starter was great. For main the steak pie was awesome! Although they wouldn't go to the effort of making a children's portion, which many, many places have done for us if needed in the past, wasn't too busy either. Even if the pies are pre prepared, it's pretty easy to rattle off a kids pie. Venison shank was beautiful, really soft and fell off the bone, lovely rumbledethump and sticky cabbage too!! But the sauce, I'm not sure if they'd used dry berries or a dry ingredient, was full of hard crunchy bits that weren't very pleasant. The stroganoff was very bitter and mustardy? As opposed to creamy. It wasn't very good. The gluten free fish ordered was beautiful fish, but caked in a really, thick, heavy batter, which as a result, was under cooked. The shin of beef was beautiful. All of the puddings were magic. The venue didn't seem bothered about going the extra wee bit and I wouldn't rush back. Mixed bag.
