Chakara offers an ambient dining experience with excellent waiting staff and terrific food. Everything here is good, including the asian-fusion entrees that include superbly done Thai, Japanese, and Chinese dishes.
But what makes Chakara truly stand out are its specialty sushi rolls – Chakara offers some of the freshest, best prepared sushi in Rochester, with sublime pairings of flavorful ingredients, and easily tops out as the best sushi option in the suburbs of Fairport and Perinton. It outshines competitors like Taisho Bistro in Henrietta's business district and other parts of the city.
Of particular note are the Honey Sandwich roll which is a delightful combination of crunch, sweetness, and flavor; the Fire House roll with its simple but delightful combination of crunchy shrimp tempura and spicy tuna; and more exotic rolls like the Battera roll which fuses eel and tuna with a dash of sweet eel sauce and a hint of spicy mayo.
If you're a fan of jalapeño in your sushi and extra sizzle, you've come to the right place. The Caterpillar roll, the Spicy Girl roll, and the Hot Girl roll all live up to their names and offer intriguing combinations of flavor and heat.
If you're like me and revel in gentler and sweeter flavor profiles with a hint of crunch, they've got you covered with options like the Fall in Love roll, the Sweetie roll, and the First Kiss roll. But to be fair, there's a lot to fall in love with here, and it warrants a few take-out trips to fully explore the menu and see what tingles your taste buds.
Portions are hearty and the amount of meat in the entrees is substantial. Nothing here feels like they are cutting corners and you get your money's worth.
In addition, there's a variety of interesting noodle options and the ability to piece together your own unique entree with a combination of rice, noodles, and prepared meat (chicken, beef, and shrimp). They even offer spinach noodles and gluten free options.
If it isn't evident, I could shower Chakara with praise for paragraph after paragraph, so if you have any doubts about trying a new place (and maybe even making it a staple of your eat-out habits), be rest assured that your time and money won't ever be wasted here.
Bon appétit and itadakimasu いただきます – happy eating!
P.S. don't forget to try the deep fried ice cream for dessert!!
