I have celiac disease, and will end up in the hospital if I get cross contaminated with gluten. I called this restaurant to see if it would be safe for me to eat at, since they seemed to have pretty good reviews from the gluten free community. The person who picked up the phone honestly sounded high or on something because of how much he genuinely didn’t care and how slow and confused he was. I was calling to ask about gluten free items and what precautions they make to ensure the food is safe, and he literally asked back “precautions?” With the most confused voice. I asked for more specifics and he seemed annoyed at me for asking more questions to try and make sure it was a safe place for me to eat. He then went to ask the kitchen who gave the same answer, “we don’t know, don’t really care”. I asked to speak to a manager who was on a break at the time, and they told me he could give me a call back. I was unfortunately currently driving to the restaurant to try and go eat dinner. Considering the amount of reviews you guys have from celiacs I really expected better, but this is one of the worst experiences I’ve had with trying to see if a restaurant was safe for me to eat at. I will also be leaving a review on all of my gluten free food areas so that people don’t get sick from here since you obviously don’t know what precautions to take for gluten free food. Update: Considering that you offer so many gluten free items, all of your staff should be trained to answer such questions. I was currently headed into your store so of course I declined because with the amount of knowledge your staff had I in no way felt safe eating there. Not to mention, your staff member went to go ask the kitchen themselves about my questions, and they couldn’t answer it either, so how should I trust the food that you prepare if even your cooks couldn’t answer the question “Do you have any precautions for preparation for a customer with a gluten allergy?” The whole interaction the staff member seemed annoyed about my questions. And yes, I will call tomorrow to talk to a manager, but no I will not be leaving my phone number.
