Unfortunately, my experience at Betty’s Burgers in Toowoomba was deeply disappointing and frustrating, particularly as a long-time vegan who is careful about dietary choices.
When placing our order, we requested the vegan puff rice patty on a vegan roll. We also asked whether vegan cheese and vegan mayo were available, but the staff member assisting us confidently stated that they were not. We clarified our vegan preferences multiple times during the ordering process. Eventually, we opted for the patty with just tomato sauce due to the lack of vegan condiments.
When the burger arrived, I ate half of it, assuming it was the vegan puff rice patty. I even remarked on how impressive it was, thinking it must be a particularly realistic plant-based option. However, my friend, who had dined at Betty’s before, questioned it. Upon confirming with the kitchen staff, I discovered to my horror that I had been served a classic beef patty instead of the vegan option I had ordered.
As someone who has been vegan for 30 years, this was incredibly distressing. I immediately brought it to the attention of the front counter staff, only to be met with an explanation that they thought I “just wanted the gluten-free vegan roll,” completely ignoring my explicit request for a vegan patty and condiments. This demonstrates a clear lack of understanding of dietary requirements and an inability to properly process or double-check orders.
What makes this worse is that other establishments, typically review the order with the customer to ensure everything is correct. Betty’s Burgers failed at every step, from taking the order to serving the correct item.
I cannot recommend Betty’s Burgers to anyone with specific dietary preferences or allergies. This experience highlights a lack of care, competence, and accountability, which could have serious implications for those with dietary restrictions or food intolerances.
Peter and I are regulars for casual drinks and dining. We love the cosy and friendly atmosphere in the Tapestry bar and restaurant, plus the great choice of delicious gluten free menu. Service is great each time. We would like to make special mention of Katie’s lovely service in the Tapestry bar followed up by Latai’ exceptional service in the restaurant. Thank you so much girls for making our time there so enjoyable and welcoming. xx
Consistently the best Indian food in Toowoomba, with amazing service. I've been eating here for 10 years across four locations, and the level of care Jasvider and Preet and the entire team show for the food, atmosphere, and customer service is just unbeatable. Always the most delicious flavours both authentic or adjusted for western palate - and they always bring out the curry to taste test and alter before serving. The entres, the mains, the rice, beef, paneer, prawn... it's just all been amazing. I've genuinely never felt let down when eating in or taking away, and the extra effort to remember, accommodate, and care for their customers really shows.
Also a fantastic range of gluten free, veg and vegan options!

Fantastic little breakfast spot. I brought my mum here and she is a very hard person to please 😂. But she actually loved this place so that has to speak volumes. The coffee was the perfect temp and tasted great. I ordered a dirty chai and mum got a flat white. As for food mum had a strange request and got a toasted ham and onion sandwich with no cheese on gluten free bread. They triple checked that they had everything right and even asked if she wanted the onion cooked or not. Very thorough. I just got Korean fried chicken with a spicy sauce (yes for breakfast, it was on the breakfast menu 😂) and it was fantastic, for a non Asian restaurant they definitely delivered. Love the atmosphere and the staff too they were extremely friendly and will go the extra mile for you. Would definitely recommend a visit if you're around or even near the hooper center.
We had a great dinner experience at Vapiano Grand Central. Two of our group of four were gluten free and there were plenty of good options for us. Pots of herbs on each table were a lovely fresh touch. The staff were very friendly and accomodating and there was a pleasant hum of music and conversation that all gave the restaurant a good vibe on a midweek night.
I will be recommending Vapiano’s to my family.
Great lunch and coffee on our visit to Toowoomba during the Carnival. Service was fantastic despite being busy. Gluten free options, and staff happy to assist with avoiding sugar and flour. What I appreciated most was that when I pointed out that they had forgotten to serve me an extra item I had ordered as part of my meal, they handled the interaction in a way that put me at ease. Always good service with the option of gluten free food. Great venue with lots of areas to choose to sit. We wanted a quiet spot away from other people. Also can have small function events there.

On our second visit to Bergin we were pleased to see a revised menu with many more gluten free options for both mains and entrée, with a good wine selection.
We love going to Tailgate Sports Bar. Great hot dogs, loaded fries and burgers made with gluten free buns. What a great choice. Great atmosphere with the sports playing on the screens.

We had a group of people with coeliac disease dine here for lunch. The food was delicious and the staff had a great knowledge of how to cook and serve safe gluten free food (make sure to let them know you are coeliac). AND they have a serperate fryer for chips! Their coffee was the best! Will definitely be back
