Poppo’s on University is a favorite spot for fresh tacos, bowls and burritos for my husband and me. So I was excited to see they offer catering and planned a surprise work lunch for 20 folks for my husband’s birthday in Downtown Sarasota. I spoke with managers Summer and Bryson on a couple of occasions as they helped me figure out the best options for our crowd. They accommodated our dietary requests (gluten free & vegetarian) with assurance. Great communication every time! Friendly & helpful over the phone, just like every time we’ve been there in person, too. We love their whole team. I also really appreciated the call in advance of delivery & upon arrival so we could coordinate the set-up. Super pleased that they include everything you need to keep the food fresh, hot and easily served, with bowls, silverware and serving utensils, too. Everyone raved about their lunch and knew why it was the birthday guy’s favorite. Could not have had a better experience. Awesome birthday lunch, thanks again!

Went for trivia night and the service was amazing!! Our waitress Kate was fantastic very attentive and knowledgeable About menu items and went out of her way to find gluten free menu and double checked with the kitchen to make sure item were not cross contaminated.

Pretty good spot. We live just down the road and have been here a couple times They’re good happy hour deals and dinner prices are very fair Happy that they have low-carb and gluten-free options for my wife The margaritas are pretty good too. I am surprised. I had the birria taco plate Which actually had good flavor, and was done well. I love the pinto beans and the consommé very good. Yesterday I had the carne Asada plate Which was Not that great. It was OK. The steak was very plain and extremely thin. I’ve never had asade this way. It also had zero flavor. It should definitely come with a salsa and some limes, cilantro and onion. I asked for cilantro and onion on the side and I got some, but it definitely needs something else I’m not a fan of their table salsa, it is just puréed tomato. It has a little flavor, but I wish it was more chunky. The one thing that I do not like is the queso. It’s pretty horrible. It’s like a cup of milk. We will be back but hopefully they can improve a few things.

I am gluten free and vegan, love the sofritas but I can't have corn or dairy, I would love to order on uber eats or door dash but you can't make any adjustments... Tonight we went in and dealt with Jonathon, what an impressive young man. He was professional kind enthusiastic all while being short staffed, dealing with some angry lady about your broken ice machine. We thought he was a manager. He is a diamond in that place. Someone needs to recognize how well he delegates to staff like he is a manager, he puts out fires and all with a smile. It was a pleasure for my hubby and I to meet you tonight.
