My sister, mum and I came in for lunch today and had a lovely experience. The staff were kind and engaging. Grace was the main waitress for our visit and she made us feel comfortable and attended to, the manager on shift was also lovely. Food was fantastic, quick service and they catered seamlessly for our dietary needs, my sister is gluten free and I am vegan and gluten free. It was an all round wonderful experience on an otherwise rainy and depressing Sunday. ❤️
Excellent gluten free options. Good choice of dishes with knowledge and friendly staff. We were a booking of 4 adults and 1 child. We arrived early for our booking which was no problem. All the food arrived at the same time and was hot and delicious. The gluten free Salmon Tagliatelle was excellent as was the Mariola which I had with a glass of house red, again very good. Will return again - 5 stars!
Went for dinner with friends on a Friday night, first visit.
First impression was good, place nicely decorated and was very busy.
Lovely drinks and good selection of non alcoholic drinks for designated drives.
Starts we shared
-CORNISH CRAB & PARMESAN ARANCINI, which were okay but we found bacon in the garnish which was not stated on the menu (my husband is Pescatarian so this was not okay)
-KOREAN FRIED CAULIFLOWER which was tasty with the dip was nice but was very soft and was mostly batter very little cauliflower.
-TEMPURA BATTERED SQUID, not bad at all and dip was tasty, good amount of garlic
For mains I had STICKY CHINESE SPICED BELLY PORK (see photo). This meal came out only just warm. One piece of pork was lovely and soft, the other was terribly dry and tough.
The rice was terrible and horrible - I could not identify a gain of rice. It was very mushy and compacted and cold. I did complain about this but was just told that’s how egg fried rice is!
SALTED CARAMEL CRÈME BRÛLÉE
with caramelised banana, banoffee puree, caramel brandy snap and banana crumb
Crème brûlée was nicely set and a good crunchy sugar layer on top- but could not identify a trace of salted Carmel. Banana weren’t caramelised but just dry banana slices. Banoffee “purée” was just a sauce, which was nice but very little present on the plate.
Brandt snap had no snap and was very soft.
My friends and husband and similar experiences with their dish’s.
One positive was that there was a good selection for gluten free.
Over all not a good experience and we’re we’re not impressed. Will not be visiting again.
Very over priced for quality of food.
Golden Orient is an absolute disgrace if you have an allergy. On Friday, I received a gluten free meal and I was violently sick within minutes of eating half of it, it was laced with gluten. I have never been so sick in all my life, I could of died. They seriously need some manners too I was treated like an animal. I will not ever return to this place and if you have an allergy please be careful, the seriousness of eating food that is reactive with your body can seriously harm you. I am still in a lot of pain 5 days after because of their negligence.
I always try and give fair reviews and this is a bit of a mixed one. This was the first time me and my friends had been here and the general look and atmosphere of the restaurant wasn't the best, unfortunately. The staff were lovely and friendly and they had a gluten free menu which was great for my friend who is Coeliac. The food was actually really good and I had probably the best yuk sung and salt n pepper chips I have ever eaten. The portions were good but the prices were all different from the menu to what was then noted on our receipt (most things had gone up by £1). When paying, we noticed the area behind the counter was really messy and covered rubbish and clutter, which made the place look dirty. Will I come back again? Yes! Just for the fact they had a gf menu and the food made up for the look and feel of the restaurant.
The best fish and chips in Staffordshire!! Cooked to order, gluten free and vegetarian!!
Wow the fish is unbelievably good!!
Always great service from a lovely lady!!
Highly recommend
Absolutely spot on. Highly recommended. Daughter is a coeliac and the staff went above and beyond to cater for her. No issues at all. Food amazing. Thank you. 5th time of visiting.
First time in Stafford, was struggling to find some where suitable for some one with a gluten free diet. Kind of stumbled on this place and was very pleasantly surprised.
Great, filling and intensely flavoursome food. Attentive friendly service with a lovely touch at the end, of sprits and chocolate. Had to decline the brandy but wife greatly appreciated her shot of Bailyes. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal.
Good food at a good price. Rather slow service but we were a party of 14 so understandable. Nearest car park is an NCP about two minutes walk away. Catered for a gluten-intolerant member of the party.
