I was excited to come to this place after going past many times but the reality was very disappointing. I won't go back. Can't recommend this place if anyone in your group has dietary preferences or allergies.
When I got there I noticed the waiter seemed to be in a bad mood, not bothering with any niceties. Even bumped me on the back of the head at one point while I was seated at the communal table.
What I didnt' expect was that my order would go so badly. Anyway I ordered GF toast with eggs and the waiter confirmed it.
Now, part of the problem is gluten free bread has come so far these days! If they bring you some bread that *doesn't* taste like cardboard you just assume they have a great supplier! Teh waiter banged my plate down and stamped off. I started eating.
But what was brought, well after I'd eaten about half the slice I realised it couldn't be gluten free.
They apologised and took it off the bill, which was the right thing to do. I'm only fodmap free not gluten free so for me the problem is probably just a day or two of fatigue and digstive upset not a big autoimmune problem. But for other people it could cause real health problems.
There's got to be some leeway for cafes to make mistakes with orders but when it comes to gluten free items and allergies I think that leeway is very small.
Upsides: decor is nice, coffee was decent, eggs were actually cooked beautifully.
Great local pub with extensive menu and EXCELLENT CHIPS IN GF FRYER. Staff are friendly, caring and knowledgeable about coeliac, even when theyโre very busy.
What a super find! This gem of a restaurant has a delicious menu with ever changing weekly specials and fresh seasonal options and deserts. The chef and staff are wonderful, accomodating and cater delightfully for Gluten Free people like me! Much of the menu is surprisingly already GF ๐๐ผ๐ฅ.
Enjoyed a tasty hot chocolate served by friendly, helpful staff. Appreciated them being able to squeeze us in during a busy time. Tried the gluten-free snack option - delicious.
Finally got to check out my new local, 28 Mason! Highly, highly recommended!!
The best gluten free fritters (sweet potato, zucchini and corn) I have ever had! So delicious! Would be perfect with some tomato relish or something though, but I'm a sauce girl and they weren't dry at all so didn't really neeedddd a sauce/relish but I got aioli on the side ๐
The almond decaf mocha I had was really good too, if a little strong for me but I'll just ask for it weaker next time!
The inside is cosy with a few tables and a bench and the outside is lovely in the sun with an overhead heater as well (which was good coz it was windy and freezing the day I went!). The service was so quick and the staff are lovely and attentive!
Looks like they had some good gluten free and vege options and I looking forward to coming back!
On enquiry about gluten free options I was given a wide variety of suggestions. I opted for gluten free bacon sandwich. What came was far more than that and it was delicious. Filled with bacon cheese salad carrot avocado mayo etc. I also had their date and coconut slice which was equally delicious. Very friendly service.
