Having left a quilt shop that I wanted to visit on one of our occasional trips from Marana to Phoenix at almost 5:30pm we looked around for a place to grab a bit to eat before heading for the interstate and the hour and half trip home. Picazzo's Healthy Italian Kitchen Paradise Valley was at the end of the strip mall so we stopped in there. Atmosphere is that of a lively Italian cafe rather than old school Italian restaurant. The menu offers quite a few vegan and gluten free dishes which is a plus for some but we are neither. My initial thought was that this place probably has good pizza. My favorite Margarita pizza but with a twist is on the menu so I ordered it adding herbed ricotta to the pizza and a side salad. Husband ordered baked lasagna. My side salad with balsamic dressing was very fresh and large enough to share. The pizza (regular crust, not GF) was actually the best I've ever had in Arizona; so good that I am willing to drive to Phoenix for the pizza (with a side trip to the quilt shop, of course). Husband was very happy with his lasagna, offering me just a small taste. He also enjoyed two slices of my pizza. Service was very pleasant and attentive without being overly so.

My family and I had previously dined here and had a different experience this time. I ordered the gluten free Fettuccine Alfredo and added shrimp. The previous time the shrimp was added to my dish. This time I was given boiled shrimp on the side. The pasta had what would equal to 2 tablespoons of Alfredo Sauce at the bottom of my noodles. It tasted like I was eating plain noodles. When I mentioned this to the waitress, she brought out Alfredo sauce in a very small dish. It still wasn't enough. We had to request the bread because it wasn't brought out to us and we had to ask for refills. Each time the waitress brought out something to us, she was clearly annoyed. We thanked her, yet she would not respond. The host and the manager(?) were very friendly and greeted us when we arrived and thanked us for coming in.

Very disappointing, my gluten-free pizza was undercooked and cold in the middle. I asked for it to be put in the oven longer and not to recook it as I didnt want to make a fuss. It was brought back 1 minute later still undercooked and ice cold in the middle. The other party in my group ordered a regular pepperoni pizza, and they also received a doughy undercooked pizza.
