cute Japanese gluten free cafe
Loved their vege tempura noodles! Really fresh ingredients and clear but flavorful broth
They also have mochi, donuts, sushi rolls, onigiris to choose from
If I could give them more stars I would because OMG! Even if you are not a vegan this spot is absolutely to die for! My mom and I went for the first time today and got the curry with gluten free bread! Another amazing thing is the majority of the menu is gluten free or upon request can be gluten free which is such a perk! Adam the owner is so kind and the other staff were so sweet and attentive! They have amazing smoothies and other delicious food options….you bettaaaaa RUN not walk asap😋! Also the portions are very generous (could be 2 meals) and are filled with flavor! Definitely a spot we will be again!
My friends and I had a wonderful dinner here on New Year's Eve. Nothing was too much trouble for the restaurant and they catered beautifully for our gluten-free and vegan guests, and the staff were very welcoming. The food was delicious. Thank you for a lovely evening, we will definitely be back!
Advertised as having gluten free options but they share frying oil and don’t wipe down the plate that other gluten containing food is cooked on - avoid if coeliac! This was kindly communicated by the server but think it should be more explicit that the ‘gluten free’ options on the menu aren’t actually gluten free. We ate elsewhere.
Such a VIBE – and the pasta is next level!
Had the best experience at Patzizi Café in Newtown! The atmosphere is seriously vibing—laid-back, welcoming, and full of character. As an Italian, I do not say this lightly: the pasta was absolutely fantastic.
My mum ordered the seafood pasta and was so happy to find out they cater for coeliacs—such a bonus! The variety of seafood and generous portions were spot on, and the flavours were rich and authentic. Amazing value for money, especially considering the quality.
I had the tomato gnocchi and all I can say is: WOW WOW WOW. Perfectly soft, handmade, pillowy gnocchi with a sauce that tasted like it came straight from Nonna’s kitchen.
The staff were absolutely lovely, attentive without being overbearing, and clearly passionate about good food and service.
Would 100% recommend—can’t wait to come back!
Great rooftop bar and food options including Gluten Free for anyone who is Coeliac. This bar has three levels and is easy to access, being so close to the Newtown train station. The Peri Peri Burger, Falafel Burger and Atlantic Salmon were all wonderful. Perfect sized portions for my family friends and I. Dog friendly spot, too, and not very busy on a Monday so a good option if you want a quiet spot on a non peak day. My only problem is the bathroom situation on the top outdoor rooftop section. The bathroom was disgusting on a quiet Monday and there was pee all over the toilet seats. The bathroom is a shared men's and women's so ladies beware of this really vile choice. Also the taps are awful and difficult to turn on/off if you aren't quite strong. You also get a nice blast of water on you from the water pressure and the strange sink to tap distance. Besides that gross bathroom, we had a great time here.
LAZY LUNCH REVIEW
Being a lifelong vegan, I’ve not had much experience with Japanese food, as it’s traditionally quite meat centric. To further complicate matters, I’m gluten, chilli and edamame sensitive…argh!
However, our eldest son has been encouraging us to try his favourite restaurant of its type, Kimusabi Sushi
in Newtown.
Knowing Peter’s other eatery, Vandal Sydney, and his fabulous grocery store, Greens Super Market we had no doubt of Kimusabi’s high quality offerings. I just wasn’t sure if my allergies could be catered for adequately.
How wrong was I you ask? About as wrong as could be and more! Our lazy lunch there last weekend was out of this world. The food was simply sensational, the service was second to none and the atmosphere was just lovely.
To top it off, our little rescued K9 son, Charlie, was welcomed in the alfresco section. Plus he was spoiled for attention by our gorgeous wait staff.
Speaking of the wait staff, I must mention the lengths they went to, in order to find suitable dishes that I would enjoy and not regret later.
The whole experience was wonderful and we cannot recommend Kimusabi highly enough. We will be back at the first opportunity, with bells on and a big appetite.

I ordered the Stir fry pork neck rice (korean). Good gluten free options here. The pork neck tasted good but was too spicy for my boy. Hope there are more gluten free options and the portion can be bigger.
We had a great evening at Stinking Bishops last week. The selection of cheeses of course was amazing but the rest of the food was also delicious.
The servers were welcoming, knowledgeable and friendly.
The ladies made sure I had enough gluten free crackers to go with the cheese and charcuterie.
I would recommend this place if you're looking for top notch food, service and wine in a comfortable and cozy setting.
The staff are great and the venue is wonderfull. I ordered veggie burger ( with the vegan and gluten free option ) unfortunately it was a massive disappointment, no sauce, no flavour, bad presentation ( we had a good laugh about the presentation and more when we realised that there was an egg) we asked the lovely waitress if it was GF and vegan again and she said yes..... we didn't want to make a drama because it was very busy. My meal was terrible but I love the garden. PLEASE GF VEGAN are so easy to make I love cooking I can show you ?
I had a very nice Dinner at Turkuaz, lovely Gluten free options. We had Stuffed Vine Leaves as Entree, Lamb Kavurma and Imam Bayildi, every dish was beautifully presented and very tasty. Could recommend all of them and would have again. Service was great and staff very friendly, restaurant atmosphere warm and welcoming. We also had a very nice bottle of Turkish Rose. A bit pricey but a nice treat. The restaurant is BYO during the week but not on weekends. Including wine we spent appr. 70.00 per person.
Lovely cosy place to get some work done over a coffee or eat some great tasting authentic Balinese food with some friends (so tasty). Gluten free friendly.
Man, the food here was excellent. We stopped for dinner on the way to a concert, and the quality and speed at which the meals came out was 5 ⭐️
We tried the fish cakes and the pinnapple fried rice, which sat inside a carved out pinnapple. Presentation and taste of the dishes were again, 5 ⭐️
Highly recommend. Plus, most of the meals are gluten-free for the coeliacs.
I had a small gluten free, dairy free salad (cauliflower, edamame and carrot) and small chicken breast. Salad was tasty and fresh, chicken breast was perfect size, not dry and not too big and price was very reasonable ($10.90 eat in).
