We spent a really great evening here. My friend felt he was in good hands here with his gluten intolerance. Pizza, pasta and salad were all very tasty. The atmosphere is nice and cozy and the friendly service rounded off the evening. We can only warmly recommend it.
They have no idea what gluten free is. Celiacs, do not stay away, but stay very far away from this place because you are harming yourself by eating there
We ate the gluten-free pizza and the "Piatto dello sciatore", the pizza was really good, if you don't know it's gluten-free, you don't even notice. The Piatto dello sciatore was really good, eggs cooked to the eye, crispy speck and sautéed potatoes, really good. Warm and welcoming atmosphere, very kind staff.
I recommend trying the typical dishes from this region. I had the gluten-free knödeltris, eggs with bacon and potatoes (a traditional dish from this region), and the semifreddo (because it’s gluten-free; my husband had the Apfelstrudel). Everything was tasty, and the staff was very friendly.
The restaurant is clearly quite popular – on a beautiful summer Saturday evening, the terrace outside was full, and many people were seated inside as well.
I ate here twice. The first time, the outdoor area of the restaurant was very busy, and one of the waitresses was extremely nervous, which created a slightly unpleasant atmosphere. The other waitress, however, was very friendly on both occasions. I tried the South Tyrolean Gröstl, which was tasty, and the dessert – vanilla ice cream with raspberry sauce and cream – was also good. I was disappointed by the gluten-free pizza, though – the dough was unusual and very hard, and it was served warm rather than hot, so it cooled down quickly and became chewy, especially the cheese. I still truly appreciate that they offer a gluten-free option.
Arriving on Sunday at 1.50pm and with little notice, they brought us some delicious gluten-free tagliatelle together with some homemade bread. Modern place, we ate in the outdoor space overlooking the lake and obviously the wonderful mountains.
We ate at this restaurant several times during our stay in Merano and we always had a good time, good food, friendly staff and good prices.
They also cater for celiacs with a wide selection of gluten-free pizzas, they also recommended their asparagus risotto, all excellent!
I recommend it to anyone who is in the area
Delicious food. Ordered the risotto, wienerschnitzel and fish, everything was amazing. The portions are quite big but a dessert was still in, which was perfect as well > panna cotta (vegan) and a chocolate ball.
They tried their best to accommodate my needs and made sure there was no lactose and gluten in my meals.
The restaurant is very modern but still super comfortable and cozy. Want to come back soon and try out the other meals on the menu.
Very pleasant waiter as well, he was very friendly and helpful.
Highly recommend coming here 👌🏽
We really enjoyed our visit.
Beautifully decorated, friendly and efficient staff, and, last but not least, very tasty pizza.
It's also worth mentioning that all pizzas and some dishes are available gluten-free upon request.
So, doubly recommended for those with celiac disease!
Excellent dishes, especially for me who am celiac 😉, almost all the menu is also gluten-free!
Really attentive and courteous staff, especially Gabriele and the maître Ana (also sommelier) who do everything to make you feel at home!
Thank you. Recommended.
Fabrizio.
Very nice and large place, in classic Baita style, truly fabulous.
Welcoming and kind staff, super informed and organized for any intolerance or allergy.
We ordered a pork shank with a side of french fries and sausages with boiled potatoes (gluten-free dish), both excellent and delicious dishes.
In addition to the sausages there were also other gluten-free dishes, just ask the waiters and they will explain everything and show you what you can have.
We will happily return if we are in the area, I highly recommend it.
I'll make a little premise, I don't usually leave negative reviews because they don't deserve my time but for this time I'll make an exception.
This morning I went to this "bar" for breakfast and being gluten intolerant I kindly asked the waiter if there were brioches or gluten-free products that were NOT packaged.... I'll report his response: "AHAHAHAHAH this is nice."
Being celiac believe me I'm used to adapting to any situation but I've never been mocked with such rudeness.
Terrible.
We visited this location TWICE, since the people were so friendly. One of the servers is a celiac and completely understood our questions about gluten free the first night, which made it easy to order confidently. We both ordered pizza the first visit and loved what we got. On our second visit, I ordered steak (multiple intense hiking days makes you crave things) and felt it was presented beautifully. Perfectly cooked too.
Grazie mille to the kind staff here. We would gladly visit again when we are back in Cortina. ❤️
Courteous and competent staff regarding the needs of people with celiac disease. Wide offer of different types of pizza. The waiter who served us was very kind and gave a little something to the children at the table.
I was taken to this place by my girlfriend and it was a perfect dinner, seated immediately by a unique staff we had a unique experience that we will certainly not forget... each dish was a work of art in itself that took us on another planet and we also found a lot of consistency and respect towards gluten free; I considered the quality/price ratio perfect given the high quality of every single product.
My compliments to the chef and all the staff.
Great restaurant. Had a gluten and cowmilk free pizza, they understood my allergies and were open to change the toppings. Very tasteful, haven’t had such a good pizza in a while.
An excellent dinner with friends.
Typical daily specials, always recommended.
The friendliness of the staff more than made up for the lack of bread: three slices for eleven people. A place recommended for people with celiac disease.
Good and polite service, cit.
Delicious cuisine, extremely courteous staff and a welcoming restaurant, with iconic and at times typical local decor. This restaurant also dispels the myth that pizza in South Tyrol is not good: at Traubenwirt, the dough you will find is soft and thick and high quality ingredients. Furthermore, fully equipped for intolerants, celiacs and vegans.
Recommended stop during a visit to the wonderful Bressanone.
If you google "Bruneck gluten-free places" and this comes up, know that it is definitely a mistake. They don't even know what gluten-free is. We call to book and rightly so, since there is a celiac, we ask questions about it: zero preparation. "I'll ask in the kitchen, wait" then "yes, you can eat meat and pizza".
We arrive and when we ask again what we can eat gluten-free we find ourselves faced with total unpreparedness, we are even recommended CANEDERLI which are made with bread.
"Can we have all the meat?"
"Yes, it's on the grill"
We ask for ribs and they tell us that those are with gluten because they are cooked in a sauce...."Cooked on the same grill as the rest of the meat?" We ask
The answer is obviously yes.
At which point he advises us to just have a pizza, as if we were breaking his balls with all these questions, so we ask if the pizza is at least cooked in a separate oven and... obviously not, cooked in the same oven but with the pan, how safe!
I'm not giving a star because we managed to fall back with a pan-fried steak and a salad that I still don't trust but in the end we were left to our own devices waiting to be able to ask for, I don't know, a coffee.
Oh and pan-fried steak + salad €28.50
For the others who are not celiac:
Dumplings below average
Good goulash
Smash bruger good but in the end it's not smash but a simple hamburger that was too rare and paid 3 euros more.
We reached this refuge on the first of the year and it was the best start to the year ever, 7 km of walking awaited us completely immersed in nature and with the snow as a backdrop, a fairytale scenario. It can be reached in 1 hour and 30 minutes of fairly easy walking. The view that awaits you at the end of the path is breathtaking, the refuge is characteristic of Trentino, all strictly made of wood. They offer a variety of typical dishes with also gluten-free options. Then with a sum of 3 euros you can rent sleds and go back down to the valley between a laugh and a racing competition in the snow.
A very special café
The Pyramid Café and the cake "artist," Ms. Tschurtschenthaler, are an experience. Many homemade cakes and tarts, most of them gluten-free. To make choosing easier, you can order a plate with three half slices. The quality is really good. We liked the mole cake (with banana) best, but the lemon tart was also extremely good.
It's fun when Ms. Tschurtschenthaler presents her products in her inimitable way. She has written three truly original baking books with her recipes and anecdotes from the village of Oberwielenbach. Be sure to check them out. We bought a copy.
We felt truly at home on the terrace with wonderful summer weather, friendly service, a cheerful manager, and delicious cake!
We sat down waiting for our friends to come in, after 20 minutes, the waitress in her fifties, very rude and impolite, pressured us to sit down with half the room empty, as soon as we sat down they told us that the kitchen was closed, we were slightly annoyed because one of our group was intolerant to flour and gluten, we preferred to leave, she was not happy and commented "I knew it, come in you get hot and you don't consume anything" in a very arrogant way, terrible experience, I strongly advise against it
As a gluten free eater, some of the best pizza I’ve had in Italy! Also enjoyed the wine—and my friend loved her polenta. Food for non gluten and gluten types alike. Extensive menu, well labeled allergens, a joy to eat here. We’ll be back!
