Staying nextdoor for a couple of nights for trip to Alton Towers and as we’d just driven up from down south, it was handy to just wander across. The welcome was warm but menu was limited compared to our local Marstons pub but the food was nice and catered for a gluten intolerance. Our server Laura was friendly and attentive.
It went downhill when they refused to take a £50 note to pay the £45 bill. It’s LEGAL TENDER, if they are worried about forgeries, they should have the tools to check. I don’t know what would’ve happened if I didn’t have a card to pay with. It’s annoyed me enough that we won’t be eating there on our second night!
Lovely 'time out' today, with friendly, kind staff and great food. There was a completely different menu for me as a coeliac, which made me feel so much more confident about ordering and getting GF food. Don't normally eat meat but I indulged in sausages and they were the tastiest ever! A really positive and happy experience in a beautiful setting. Well done to the chefs and to the lovely staff, who stayed smiling and patient even when it got busy. Really reccommend this place.
Went over for lunch today and what an experience. The staff were all friendly and attentive. The food was incredible! We ordered a lot as the menu had some delicious options.
The lamb chops were my favourite and after speaking to the staff I found out they were locally sourced too.
The menu also had some vegetarian and gluten free options which was great.
The quality was amazing and the flavours were rich and tasty. The spice levels were perfect and I still can't get over the flavour.
Highly recommend if you're passing through or local.
Staying at Rivendale Retreat and had a lovely walk to this beautiful pub. Food was brilliant, also cater for gluten free. Going again today (don’t think you’ll find a better meal) 5stars
Stopped off on way home from day out, very welcoming, busy, always a good sign. Food was delicious, plenty of Gluten Free options which was brilliant desserts too,Mulled Cider was lovely, staff were great, sat by the fire which was a bonus today, would highly recommend.
Just stopped when out for a drive for a drink. Large garden and clean but we went inside as weather not brilliant. Cosy and clean. Saw a family dining and it tempted us. Good selection on yhe menu and catered for different diets. Food excellent. Mr friend had homemade pie of the day which had plenty of meat and nicely cooked veg. I had a gluten free halloumi burger chips and salad - delicious and a generous size meal.
WOW,visited here early on Saturday for a breakfast ,the staff were very friendly and helpful, we ordered 3 large Full English everything was cooked fresh to order it was all cooked perfectly with granary bread and EVEN PROPER FRIED BREAD, we also had a gluten free breakfast that he said was the BEST that he had ever had.The coffees were all made using freshly roasted beans .,.VERYwell done to the NEW OWNERS ,we will definitely return for the day time menu,it looks amazing
An utterly amazing gastro pub…our second visit as we live 100 miles away and meet friends from the Cotswolds here as a halfway house. It is absolutely superb…,the tremendous food, fabulous service, and for my friend who is a Coeliac, the best gluten free menu she has ever been offered. The chocolate sharing board …what an invention!!!Great way to finish off a 5 star meal in every way.
Had to wait over an hour for our food. The waitress came over after 50 minutes and told one of the party that they would have to change their coeliac order. The steak on the steak frites was fatty and chewy. The brussel sprouts were like rocks and impossible to cut. Has the venue had a change of chef? Felt sorry for the waitress who was left in a difficult situation.
