While the food and service were excellent, if you’re celiac or gluten intolerant, be careful ordering the items marked gluten free. They had a lot of options (which is why we went), but when I ordered the Japanese rice bowl, I asked if I could get chicken instead of the salmon or tofu the comes with the dish. I asked if they had a GF chicken option, and the waitress said that would be no problem, but then warned me that one sauce used in the dish I wanted isn’t GF. She said it could simply be omitted. My issue is that the dish was labelled GF but contained gluten. If I hadn’t wanted a substitute, I would have been very sick. This makes me wonder if anything else labelled GF actually needs to be modified. They should put GF option available instead of simply GF. That’s so dangerous for people who are very sensitive to gluten. You wouldn’t expect something marked vegan to contain meat, or something marked nut free to contain nuts. So irresponsible and disappointing.
Really unique tea blends, coffee-based drinks, and treats with names inspired by literature. There are a range of options for different dietary needs (vegan, gluten free, etc.)Friendly staff and lovely soft music in the background. The shop is wheelchair accessible and the walls post art from the Truro arts society.
Half decent atmosphere, great food, gluten free options available. Costs a little extra but it's worth it if you need gluten free options. The only thing I didn't really like was the water offered. It was cold and refills were aplenty; it wasn't the best tasting water. I recommend getting a pop or other drink instead.
Celiacs (and everyone else) If you haven't been here, you're missing out! The best gluten free bread we've ever had! The staff are attentive, the food was excellent and the whole place feels like eating with family.
I have to order gluten free and the young men working were very careful with my order. So much appreciated! I'm sorry that other people may have had to wait a bit while they cleaned the grill, but thank you, staff, very much for your conscientious work and delicious meal.

We had such a fantastic breakfast at Pur & Simple in Truro, Nova Scotia this morning — everything from the food to the atmosphere to the service was absolutely spot on.
A huge shoutout to our wonderful server, Natasha! She was warm, attentive, and made us feel completely at ease. Her friendly energy and perfect timing really made our experience memorable. She went above and beyond to make sure everything was just right.
Also, a big thank-you to Pur & Simple for offering such great gluten-free options — it’s not always easy to find breakfast spots that do it right, and you nailed it! Tasty, safe, and satisfying.
