Best local organic foods in Hilo. Lots of options for Vegan, gluten free, and dairy free. The people are down to earth and kind. If you eat meat, they are very conscious about where they get the meat. The best Kombucha I have ever had. From the homemade cultured hot sauce to the gluten free dairy free brownies and banana splits, they do it right. Weds night they have Kava, open mic and pizza made with ancient grain organic flour. Owners are also very cool. 😎
Easily one of, if not my favorite place to eat in Hilo. A beautiful atmosphere filled with flowers and joy. The food is extremely fresh and they go the extra mile to make sure they source high quality local, organic ingredients. This cafe is a Hilo Staple and a must visit. And don't forget to check out all of there wonderful gluten free, vegan desserts!!!
DO NOT ORDER GLUTEN FREE!
You will likely get "Glutened" as my daughter did.
Other than that... Normal people will enjoy good food in reasonable sized portions for a good price.
Every meal at our table was delicious! The drinks unique and tasty. I had the gluten-free pink waffle, with the lactose free Gelato. I honestly could've ate 2. Will be back!
I LOVE THIS RESTAURANT. I HAVE CELIAC DISEASE AND THIS RESTAURANT DELIVERED. The waiter was literally the most knowledgeable person ever and took so many precautions just for me. He gave me the salad as my side and I took that shrimp with mashed potato. As you can see in the photo I finished all of it in 2 seconds. It was so good. I highly suggest you visit this restaurant one time. Atmosphere was beautiful. There was a person singing. It was just great dining.
I said I’m gluten free and asked for rice and grilled fish of the day. This was not a problem at all here. I had ono which was delicious, very fresh tasting. Sorry for the photo. I already started eating before I took the picture
Start with the ribs as an appetizer, then have some more ribs for your meal.
If you enjoy food comas the pu pu platter, quarter loaf of rosemary bread, and guava BBQ babyback ribs left me in a wonderful state of existence.
Not too many gluten free options listed for my wife but the chicken risotto she did get was the best non fresh fish meal she said she had on our week+ on this island.
I was really looking forward to some local restaurants on our visit to Hawaii. We drove from Kona to Hilo on the day we went for our helicopter ride in Hilo. I purposefully booked the last flight of the day so we could have dinner somewhere in Hilo. Hilo is much less touristy and more focused on regular people living their daily lives. I struggled to find many restaurant options, but really loved what I read about Moon and Turtle so I was excited. It did not disappoint! Portions were good. It's a small menu so be prepared. Also the food is served family style so you can get a few different things for the table and share. They were as accommodating as they could be with the gluten free diets two of our party required. They even offered a dairy free option for one of my party too. I really loved the vibe here. The staff were SOOO happy and lovely to us. Everyone is very kind and sweet. I was very happy with our experience! They offered several different dessert options which were just as delicious!
Delicious! Just go and enjoy. They also have menu items for Vegan and Gluten Free diners. Chef Dean really knows how to develop depth of flavor. A real surprise, should be on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives!
Gluten free granola and dairy free ice cream. The bowls are as pretty as they are delicious. The music is ono and will put you in a relaxong state of mind as you sip on the Hawaiian. The smoothies are fantastic. There may be only one person working when you come so please use your Aloha spirit and be patient. I do not think they serve sandwiches anymore.
This was the only place in town that was open late and I am soooooo grateful! The food was pretty good and they were able to work with my gluten free needs. They had karaoke going which was entertaining while we ate under the covered patio while it rained.
