We visited this beautiful restaurant on Sunday the 26th January. We were booked in for dinner and very much looking forward to a roast dinner after a soggy and cold day at the zoo. Upon arrival we were welcomed into the restaurant by the manager. Upon checking our booking the table was checked and we were shown to our seats. The restaurant had a lovely friendly and warming atmosphere, the rooms were lovely and warm. Shortly after sitting down , our drinks order was taken and they arrived shortly after. I myself am coeliac, I also cannot have dairy or soya . I mentioned this to the waitress , who checked straight away with the chef what they could cook for me to meet my dietary requirements. To my amazement I could have the roast beef dinner! There was a great selection on the menu for normal and for gluten free needs. I was very happy with the choices available to me, even with additional allergies. Also the children’s menu had plenty of options, we took 3 children with us. The food arrived in good time and we were not disappointed. The food was amazing! The beef was cooked to perfection and the dinner was to a very high standard. The children’s meals were good size portions and the kids loved them. We enjoyed the food so much that we had puddings also. Yes they even had a pudding that was gluten, dairy and soya free! I had a sticky toffee sponge with dairy free ice cream. It was amazing, I don’t usual go out for a meal where I can be catered for especially for pudding as well. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our meal out and will definitely be dining again. It was faultless and the staff were all very friendly and attentive. Thank you for being an inclusive restaurant and making our Sunday lunch an enjoyable one.

We were here for Mothers day afternoon, after all the reviews and write ups being so good,we were shocked at the service received. We admit it was exceptionally busy but that didn't excuse the treatment we were given.My Daughter can't eat gluten or onion due to allergy, after asking waitress there was nothing she could have in the starters so ended up with just bread.The bread after waiting ages, arrived after everyone had finished their starters,it was 2 pieces of dried up toast no butter, she ended up having to use her Daughters melted butter on her plate.Ordered water it never arrived, ordered 4 sweets ,only 3 arrived, sat ages waiting nothing came. It wasn't what we expected sadly disappointed 😔

Delicious, healthy, filling vegan food at good prices with great options :) Amazing to have so many gluten free options too! Shame it’s out of the city centre or i’d be here all the time!

Called today on our Sunday walk, we found a table outside as we have dogs, we sat there for almost 10 minutes waiting for table service, we felt ignored as the staff were serving other tables, so my wife decided to go inside to order, my wife pointed out we’d been waiting awhile, and the staff replied with we’re busy, but not too busy to serve other tables, while looking at the cakes she noticed that the gluten free cakes were at the bottom of the cabinet, they should be at the top so there is no risk of cross contamination, to which my wife pointed this out to the woman serving her, who quickly replied, you’re a happy bunny today, basic food hygiene where allergies are concerned is very poor, and very rude staff, we’ll continue to use the Barlow ponds cafe in future.

Wonderful meal with great choice for Coeliacs. Very accommodating with friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful food and lovely atmosphere. Thank you. We will definitely be returning.
