Waitress was knowledgeable, explained anything on the menu could be made gluten friendly anything fried is done separately for safety. Anything on menu can be prepared GF.
Shelly’s tea room is an absolute must visit. Whether you’re looking for a quiet date by yourself or if you want to spend a day with a group you and your loved ones will have a delightful relaxing evening.
Shelly’s offer a variety of treats that can easily accommodate a number of diets (including gluten free ) making it not only a great experience but a fantastic choice for many.
Not only do you have a positive experience in the means of dining but the owners and staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. Buddy perhaps being the best host you’ll ever come to know and will ensure your satisfaction while you drink one of the many delicious teas.
My most recent experience I had called ahead looking for a reservation for the next day. I only had a small window due to my schedule and The owner actually went out of her way to sneak me in without me asking. Unbeknownst to her it was for my birthday and so I thanked her for it stating how she made my birthday that much more special. Not only did they go out of their way to fit me in - the day I came in she surprised me with a chocolate sponge cake and a candle. I was blown away.
It’s evident that the staff and owners care greatly and with that their warmth, hospitality and professionalism exudes throughout the quaint shop creating a comfortable homey atmosphere.
I finally tried a whirled ice cream. Very tasty. The place smells divine!!!!
I love the gluten free and vegan options too, and they added chocolate chips for me at no cost which was kind.
Everyone was friendly. Fully accessible. Plenty of seating.
Limited parking though.
Will start by saying my experience is with ordering online and take-out. Ordering was quick and easy. I ordered a gluten free pizza (as a celiac) and can say this was one tasty gluten free pizza. I also did not get any reaction which is the cherry on top. The price was fine for me it was about 18 bucks (charge of $4 to sub the dough) but that’s the gluten free life. Would order again and again. For reference I got the not just a roni pizza. The staff was also very nice.
Can't trust them for food allergies. My wife ordered a meal and specifically said gluten free. I had asked for a gluten free menu when we were seated. I ordered "same". They served me the gluten free version and her one with regular bread. The server even blamed her for not saying she needed gluten free. I know mistakes happen but this was very upsetting as she has a strong reaction to gluten. The saddest part is the food was delicious.
We were seated at 6:30. Didn’t have drinks until 7:15 and dinner arrived at 7:45. They also served our severely gluten sensitive friend a regular sandwich bun. A replacement for her meal arrived 25 min later. I wouldn’t suggest this place for anything more than a quick drink
Absolutely favorite açaí bowl place in the area! Consistently the bowls are fresh, getting the most product for the price, and I was really impressed with the gluten free and vegan baked goods I tried the other day. The best I’ve had in awhile! Thank you
We often meet friends here as its a good half way point. Service is always good. Food is mixed bag; clam chowder & stuffed sole meal were great, my cousin ate everything but the turkey on the turkey meal saying it didn’t taste right.….as a Gluten Free diner there are very few options other than salads. I ended up with a bacon wrapped scallops appetizer @ $22 for 5, & had to pay $$ for sides of asparagus & potatoes.
The raw oysters were fresh, but were served with sauces in PLASTIC CONTAINERS. Head scratcher when one looks at the environmental waste & impact on ocean life, especially for a seafood restaurant
MAKE RESERVATIONS!
Perfect place for a day out in Plymouth. Classic OG pub atmosphere with many amazing gluten free options on the menu. I had the little neck clams and a classic wedge salad, and they were both fresh, well prepared, and oh so tasty! Everyone in our party loved their food!
First time eating here and I will be back. The food is great. All the flavors work well together. And they have well marked gluten free options and can make many other things gluten free. Also many vegetarian and vegan options. They are careful about food allergies.
Waterfront Dining Experience ~
Plymouth has long been home to local businesses and La baia is a shining example of what happens when dedicated, longtime business owners brings a fresh vision to the waterfront. From the moment you arrive, you're met with an outstanding view, whether you choose to dine outdoors on a beautiful day or step inside to a warm and welcoming ambiance.
The atmosphere is truly inviting, and the staff goes above and beyond to make you feel at home. La baia isn't just a restaurant ~it's an experience. The menu is exceptional, with a perfect balance of creative cuisine and classic favorites. The daily specials always impress, offering something new and exciting to try each visit. And for pizza lovers, I can't say enough about their cauliflower crust - one of the best gluten free options in town!
Wether you're a local of just visiting historic Plymouth, La baia is a must visit destination. It's more than an meal; it's a place where great food, a breathtaking setting, and a top-tier hospitality come together seamlessly. Highly recommend!
A little pricey, especially adult beverage wise. However, this has been the "spot" my sister and I will choose to go to. Unfortunately not super allergy friendly. There is gluten free crust available for pizza, which was delicious.
The restaurant is so bright and cozy. They make their own bread, and even have a gluten-free option. The food is uncomplicated, fresh and delicious. I love the spiral stairs leading to the shop carrying natural and handmade goods. This will be a new spot to visit every time I go to Plymouth.
Great place! Went for a graduation celebration dinner. Had a nice time on the breezey back patio. This place has nautical vibes like many of the places in this neighborhood, but make it fancy. (Chic!) High quality ingredients. The ramen was very good. Worth going back for, especially if you're gluten free because gluten free Ramen is a bit of a rarity.
Unfortunately, they were out of sushi that night. We had a late reservation, so go early in the evening if you want to do their weekly sushi night.
Some really excellent cocktails and a good amount of gluten free options. And our server (Nicole, I think) was very helpful and made our dining experience better.
We just finished an EXCELLENT lunch at The Crab. The cauliflower pizza for our gluten intolerant grandson was a huge hit. We all tasted tested it. Yummy. All of our meals were huge, perfect temperature and very tasty and fresh. We highly recommend The Blue Eyed Crab.
An Unexpected, Delicious Thanksgiving
We took a spontaneous drive to Plymouth, Thanksgiving Day: It took several phone calls to find a place open AND not booked.
But Proof 22 served an excellent Thanksgiving meal, even allowing for creative substitutions for my being gluten-free.
The pumpkin pie for dessert, was the chef's family recipe, made with fresh pumpkin (not can): Definitely more than we were expecting from a bar.
Excellent service, as well. Thank you 🙏
Lovely experience here. Our waitress was really friendly. They even double-checked with the kitchen to see if we had a gluten-free option on the fries. We ordered a cesar salad, with a gluten-free house burger and a side of tater tots. The food was delicious and filling but at the same time didn't nake us feel heavy. Great experience!
