I used to buy from her when she had her bakery out of her house. I’ve tried to come to her store front during her open hours and I’ve tried calling ahead dozens of times. Phone is never answered and she states in voicemail not to leave a message because she doesn’t check them. She’s never been open during open hours, sometimes I arrive as early as 11 am or noon. It’s extremely frustrating as I’ve driven almost an hour each way, each time and I’m not even able to see what she has to offer here. Extremely disappointed as I thought she was here for us who are so far away from other gluten free bakery options.
Edit addition:
Thank you for responding, I really appreciate that. I’m not on Facebook, my family found you on Facebook a year or two ago which is why I was able to try a couple things a long time ago. What we tried was delicious but it’s been so long I’m not even sure what we bought.
It is very frustrating that I keep wasting gas and hours of my time driving, trying to arrive during the store hours only to see the closed sign on the door. I even saw another couple at the store at noon today, we were all hoping to stop in. This isn’t the first time I’ve seen other people confused why the store is closed during hours listed on Google and on the door. I’ve tried arriving as early as 11 am and the store wasn’t open at that time either. I’ve tried coming on weekends and had today off work so I thought a weekday might give me more likelihood to arrive before closing. This has pushed me to drive even farther to other bakeries that are open during their listed hours as it’s almost certain that this bakery will be closed no matter which day or time I try to stop in.
I did try to place an order ahead once on the website as well but never got a response to it. When I tried to stop in to pick up the order the bakery had already closed. I believe that day was listed as open until 3 pm and I arrived at 1 or 2 pm. It was soon after the store front opened. It’s just too difficult for me to try any longer after all of the failed attempts to come during listed hours and to pre-order through the website when the bakery closes before I can pick up an order.
I do wish you the best, it just doesn’t seem to work out for me to try to buy any of your goods.
Its not easy traveling with gluten intolerance. With that said, I can't wait to go back to this place. They are dedicated gluten free and absolutely amazing food. My go to when I am up north.
Always a great place, with friendly faces and great service. The food options are good, along with fun seasonal options. I always appreciate being able to get dairy-free and gluten-free items. We love the outdoor play area and the fact that it’s fenced in too.

The gluten free options were very good! They even have dedicated fryers, GF gravy, and GF chicken tenders. Our server, Justin, was very knowledgeable about the GF options and very helpful. The kimchi was also good! Overall a great experience!
Ordered for pickup. Ribs were perfect!! Sides were delicious and smoked turkey salad was absolutely awesome!! Have to eat gluten free and they made every effort to comply!!!!
I used to always order online here because I have celiac disease so I can’t eat gluten cross contamination. However; this summer when I went in person, I realized they didn’t always follow the cross contamination procedure. Now, I only go if I can be there in person and have to tell them exactly how to follow their protocols. For example, change gloves, don’t use the same mayo or toppings as the other subs, use a clean knife, don’t make the sub where you make the regular subs, etc. sometimes the gluten free area isn’t even set up anymore. I hate to do it, but I can’t eat it if it doesn’t done correctly. I would encourage the owner and managers to re-train the employees and emphasize the importance if someone has an allergy or celiac disease. I’d like to have a worry-free experience again.
Ordered a gluten free pie for my brother days in advance. Day if pickup they gave it away. Staff was extremely rude and refused to make another. Save yourself the trouble and take your business elsewhere.
Food isn't as good as it used to be. Roasted turkey dinner was in tiny cubes, looked like cat food, but I guess was decent even though there was only like 2 tablespoons of it. Pot roast was really salty and kind of dry all shredded up. Server was kind. The banana pecan pancakes were amazing from what I heard. Just isn't what it used to be. I love that they have gluten-free options. Usually I like the food, maybe just a bad cook? Will return, the breakfast is usually what I get.
In the East End of Midland's downtown is this Maru sushi restaurant. Excellent menu with many options and friendly staff to help you. Cool vibe in a modern spacious building with high ceilings and nice lighting. I asked for gluten free options and waitress Keelie suggested a chef roll. She asked about my likes and dislikes and the roll that Chef Zack prepared was amazingly delicious. I asked for a spicy version and it was perfect... not too hot. My friend ordered Nigiri and was very happy as well. They also have a full stocked bar. We sat at a window table on this occasion but on a previous visit we dined at the bar and enjoyed a friendly discussion with the bartender. You will enjoy the food and be treated well here.
Overall, excellent food, good service, and pleasant atmosphere. I went here twice as I stayed at the Holiday Inn for 2 nights and the food was superb both nights. My favorite was the French dip sandwich. It was so good! They use a good quality beef for it. $6 for the tiny side of mac and cheese was a rip off. The portions of everything could have been bigger. My sister had a burger with gluten free bun, however her fries had onion ring batter bits mixed in them. So, while it is appreciated that they offer gluten-free buns they clearly do not care about cross-contamination and are using the same fryer for o-rings and fries. Our servers were pleasant both visits however, the second night she was sweeping and mopping right by us...DON'T DO THAT WHILE PEOPLE ARE EATING, LOL! That's nasty. Awesome sports bar atmosphere with plenty of TV's, Keno, and some claw machines for kids. I wish they had a pull tabs machine. They had a good cocktails menu, and the drinks were well-made. Jolly Punch was my favorite! I will definitely go back when I am in Midland again!
I have been here a few times for lunch, there is always gluten free options. I stick to the items marked on the menu and safe options. Had the salmon last time and it was delicious. I have never been sick
They can make most items gluten free including most pasta dishes. I did not research the pizza but it’s marked as well. Had a lovely dinner and would go back.
Boomerang Coffee is amazing, they have the best specialty drinks that change monthly. The oatmeal cream pies, homemade pop-tarts, and pastries are all phenomenal. I normally write off anything gluten free, etc but you will be really missing out if you skip trying them. Absolutely fantastic!
If I could leave them 6 stars, I would in a heart beat. The staff is extremely kind, approachable, and have great attitudes every time I am in.
Furthermore, as an individual with a gluten allergy, it means the world I can get a wide variety of sweets (cookies, cupcakes, brownies, etc.) on the go for an affordable price and that taste DELICIOUS! I did not have a big sweet tooth before, but The Gourmet Cupcake Shoppe changed that! :)
Also, I had a great experience with a custom order cake made exactly the way my partner and I wanted to for our anniversary. Tons of gluten free flavor options and beautiful decorations.
Highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend!
Everything was excellent. Fresh and well seasoned, very affordable and large portions. Very nice looking place inside and out but the lighting is just a little too dark. We had a hard time reading the symbols for the gluten free, dairy free, etc. Will visit again next time we're in the area!
Good coffee, friendly staff. Cozy atmosphere to chat with friends or even do some work.
We were visiting Midland for a niece's graduation. We visited Live Oak Twice during our stay. They have a large selection of coffees that they roast themselves. Unlike a major chain, their coffee doesn't taste like burnt beans. The coffee had a nice flavor, with a strong finish that isn't bitter. Their syrups are also made in house. For the ones we tried, they were delicious. Not sugary sweet, so you can actually decern the various flavors.
There was a board with the staff's choices, one being a Cinnamon and Brown Sugar, my partner enjoyed it and it was fantastic when she let me try it. I had both the Caramel Latte and Macchiato. I was pleased with both.
Even though we didn't get any, they had a good selection of Gluten Free options. The food is also made in house, meaning that they make these gluten free options on their own. Unlike many other chains and local shops that don't have any Gluten Free options, even if they are resold versions of major brands. That shows a care for those in the community that either for medical reasons or by choice eat Gluten Free.
The environment in the shop is warm and inviting. Whether you are having a conversation with friends, reading a book, or trying to work on your laptop you'll find an area for you.
The staff was friendlier than what I expect from a coffee shop. Usually they will great you, but they're more about getting your order and moving on to the next customer. The staff here would answer questions and where informative. Surprisingly, many of them were knowledgeable not only about the coffee, but the business itself.
Do not sleep on Live Oak Coffee. You'll regret it.
Very good healthy option. Chicken ceaser salad is the bomb. If you have an allergy to gluten, egg, etc. This is one of the cleanest places. Have almost no allergens in their food.
Panera is one of my favorite restaurants. They have delicious food thats quality. They have great gluten free options with the salads to soups. Their tomato soup is the best I’ve ever had. Try their Brocoli cheese soup it’s super good. They also have kid friendly options like Mac and cheese and grilled cheese.
I absolutely love to bring people to this place. They have a wide selection, make all their own wine on site, and it is reasonably priced. They even have gluten free crackers for tasting if you ask. The people are friendly and knowledgeable, and the atmosphere is relaxed. Sort of a coffee house feel, but with wine. I highly recommend!
Love love love that they have gluten free options, and that they are affordable! The food is yummy and the atmosphere is cozy. I like how I can hang out and read, play games, and enjoy my time and not feel rushed. We have been here many times and everyone is really nice and the food has been consistently good. Awesome place for the community.
Pretty good. Order at a counter and they bring food to you. Good selection of options, although no Gluten Free crust, they offer a crustless pizza. It's ok. Would prefer a GF crust though.
Absolutely fabulous! I used to live in Europe and for a very long time, I have searched for a European- like bakery. The sourdough bread if awesome, the chocolate “ danish”, on the top shelf is heavenly …. looking forward to the gluten free bread also. Thank you for coming to Midland!
