We had one of the best waitress were probably ever had! At first, my food was not prepared the best ( they were busy) BUT. It was fixed quickly, without fuss and was delicious. I actually just sat and didn't say anything. She noticed and just took action. The gluten free pancakes are fantastic and you can get different kinds, not just one note. OJ is made fresh in the restaurant. Tip: Expect to wait a bit. A large party, call ahead.
Great gluten-free options! Thank you Wonderful server “Tarn” that went above and beyond to help us out with our specific food and dietary requests. Started with the bubble bar flight, then had the apple and fig salad, so good. Ended with the lobster and gluten-free Mac, but traded out the lobster for steak and it was delicious.
Our server Brooke was great! She was so sweet and accommodating for my gluten restriction! Our food was hot and delicious! So tasty! Would be happy to have Brooke as a server again!
I had been eyeing Mellow Mushroom for a while during my work visit in Chesterfield and I finally decided to try! I really liked the vast options, especially gluten free and vegan. The crust was cooked perfectly and the pizza arrived in great condition and still hot. I ordered a small pie with veggies, however, it took a bit longer than anticipated to be delivered for a small pie. Maybe they were busy with dinner rush hour, not sure. I will still be back.
My boyfriend & I came here while visiting Chesterfield to potentially move to the area & we were blown away! We had the privilege of having Lisa as our waitress who was extremely helpful & caring. We stick to a gluten free diet & Lisa was able to recommend options for us as well as encouraged us to ask for our meals to be made gluten free. We definitely have plans to come back & can't wait to share this restaurant with our family!
Delicious crepes! This time we had the savory, I wish I had the room to eat a sweet one too! If you are gluten free, they also gave gluten free options. Plus, great service! Definitely will return!
Did go to shack for breakfast with family over the weekend. Food was great...tried various stuff .... Nashville chicken and veggie omelette was good one.
Had ordered one gluten free item and stickley asked no meat, no chicken but the item served was with chicken, they served another one but found a piece. Was little disappointed.
GF-friendly!
We were visiting from out of town and happened upon this place. Our waiter was so helpful and kind. My wife, who is gluten and dairy free was able to eat there successfully and her food was great! I had the firefly smash burger and baked mac n cheese. They were both fantastic. Wish we lived closer, we would definitely be regulars!
Lion's choice has always been a great place for roast beef. There's really nothing like it. The major bonus for me is that they have gluten-free buns for small upcharge. The buns actually taste good as well.
Thank you chef Ryan, who came to offer options that are available for soy, gluten and dairy allergies.
He was willing to custom make something not on the menu to do this. Excellent work
Normally a great experience but the chicken was raw last time. Usually appreciate the gluten free menu options, but it’ll be a while before we come back after that.
Lion's Choice is the best roast beef around! They can customize your beef from rare to well done. For those doing keto diet they can accommodate. Also, they have gluten free bread which is great. Try their shakes!

Our server Alexys P was AMAZING. She was helpful with menu options, cooking tips and tricks, and accommodated my gluten allergy. She also made the birthday celebration one to remember!
THANK YOU Alexys P!!

Excellent food, friendly staff. A wide variety of gluten free options. If you like your fries AND onion rings, don't get the combo basket. It only contained a handful of fries and 2-3 onion rings. Hubby likes both, was talked into the combo basket by waitress and then ended up order another order of rings, plus he finished my fries 😆

Homemade goodness! This little bakery did a big order for our party, but I love dropping in for a couple take home treats. My faves are the baklava, carrot cake, and Scottish shortbread cookies! They even have gluten free options, dog treats, and macaroons.
ADDENDUM: I have changed our rating for this restaurant to five stars...and here's why:
We stopped in on our way through St. Louis on the evening of May 31st. We were weary and hungry, anxious to get back on the road and get home after hours of traveling. Our family's dietary needs always make stopping at a restaurant more of a chore than a treat, with a few exceptions. This was the best of them!
As you will read below this addendum, we did not always have a pleasant experience at this restaurant. I feel like the owners took our criticism to heart, though. The change between those experiences and this one was night and day!
We ordered our meal online, calling ahead to inform them that our order would need to be handled with Celiac protocols. The staff this time was extremely friendly and accommodating. They were conscientious about our order and ready to help when we called back with additions to our online order. When I walked in to pick up our order, the staff behind the counter had set our order aside and hand-delivered it to me. When I came back in to purchase the chips that the online form hadn't communicated to them, they were initially concerned that they had forgotten something. When I explained to them what happened the young man behind the counter was kind and helpful. In total I spoke to two young men and a young lady...all of whom are credits to their profession and generation. The experience made me feel like they cared about their customers as people.
If Chipotle Corp is looking for people to train staff, send them to this store...they have this down! I look forward to visiting this restaurant again!
Thank you for a very pleasant experience and the perfect kick-off for the final leg of our journey home. It may have been just another order to you, but for us it was a brilliant moment of upbeat kindness in a weary world!
----------------------------------------
We visited there in the early evening on April 9th. The food was excellent, but the attitude of the girl behind the counter was terrible. Most of my family has Celiac disease and must eat gluten-free. The girl acted like it was a colossal inconvenience. We realize that it is in fact inconvenient for the staff, but as a former restaurant manager I know that the last thing your staff should do is communicate that to the guest. It made my wife and children feel awkward and unwelcome. Yesterday we tried it again out of convenience and a desire to give them a second chance. This time was around 7pm on April 19th. The two young men behind the counter were amiable and accommodating. My family felt very comfortable placing their order and the process was smoothly handled by both of them. What a difference a good attitude makes! In both cases the same manager was present, but he seemed very disconnected from his staff and his customers. I almost felt apologetic for interrupting him from whatever was more important than running the restaurant. I especially felt badly for his staff, whom he treated with detached aggravation. Our second visit would have been remarkably more pleasant if he had just stayed in the back room and trusted one of the other employees with the cash register. Instead he came out too early, growled at his employees, and then waited impatiently for my family to finish their order.
We will probably be back at some point. My wife has medical appointments in St Louis periodically and this is across the street from our favorite Trader Joe's. That is unless we decide to eat a little earlier and just stop at the Chipotle near Barnes-Jewish Jewish. It's busier, but MUCH friendlier!
The GRAND entrance:
Pushing my mother in for our first ever visit, the hostess came running to try to help with the door! Immediately, I was impressed with that sort of concierge seating/greeting experience, and then upon entry, I saw "Be Kind" written on their easel! Both made me happy we had chosen to come, and we hadn't even at that point even been seated or tasted the food!
Seating NO ONE'S beating:
Approaching the table, it was swift and hands-on despite the wheelchair as several TEAM players assisted in pulling a chair, seating Mom on an open aisle, and in a comfy spot without the need for us to say or do a thing. Needless to say, we were HIGHLY impressed at this point as I can honestly say I have NEVER had this sort of courteous seating anywhere with Mom!
Vittles that lasted about as long as a paper shirt in a bear fight:
I will NEVER do the food justice with words, but when I say it all lasted about as long as a paper shirt in a bear fight?! That is country slang for hoo-we-mama, we greedily downed that food and almost cried when it was gone! The menu first of all was limitlessly overwhelming if I had to say anything 'negative', but I mean that as a HUGE compliment, and as God is my witness, I do not lie, I HATE breakfast foods! But when I tell announced mid-way through devouring my breakfast tostada carnitas, "This is THE BEST FOOD I MAY HAVE EVER eaten" (not just breakfast foods were being drawn into comparison), I reiterated, by emphatically saying, "Again, I'm saying, NOT just the best breakfast food I've ever eaten, b/c ya'll KNOW I don't even LIKE breakfast food...this is THE BEST FOOD I have ever eaten!" It was expertly spiced, nutritious, and alternatively breakfast-y! (And, yes, I KNOW I'm using a lot of exclamation marks, but, ya'll?! This food was delicious, and rarely do I EVER say that as I am gluten free, don't like breakfast food, and am picky as picky can be because I am an admittedly good down home, Southern-inspired, Paula Deen type cookin' mother of three, and as I say, "Ya'll, I didn't get hips this size from skippin the butta" 😉!
Drinkin's not just for Friday nights, mama:
Holy Mary Mother of God, you have GOT to try the seasonal Juice Bar fixins, their take on Sangria, and/or the Bloody Mary. Period. End of story. Don't cry to me if you choose to ignore this one piece of advice. I will tell you to talk to the ✋🏾if you try.
Service ... (ask for Kim, but tip like it's Nicole) 😉
Gluten-Free Options APLENTY:
Part of my hesitancy in eating out is, as I mentioned, due to having to cook at home and the fact that I grew up in a home where mama cooked every meal and we scarfed it up by leaving no crumb behind. But usually, g/f food is hard to find, limited in scope, boring, and without flair or imagination. This place? The choices were almost as plentiful as the non-g/f options were, and EQUALLY as gorgeous on the plate and as yummy or yummiest than traditional breakfast fare like the others chose to eat! That carnita tostada was heavenly and with the fruit sprinkled with tajin?! My fresh-squeezed watermelon juice on the side? When I say I was almost wistful when it was all over, I do not lie!
My suggestion? GO EARLY...these west county folks arrive in droves about 9:45-10 am, but the early crowd was quiet, lighthearted, and peaceful.
My child has celiac disease so we have to be very careful about what he eats and cross-contamination. The crew working was very understanding and careful in their handling of my son's food. He loved his sandwich and I'm a very happy and grateful momma for a crew that took exceptional care in keeping my child healthy! We will be back! Thank you, Firehouse, Chesterfield, mo!
Sampling Ukraft’s Fall menu additions during the Foodie Fam takeover.
What stands out about Ukraft is their commitment to inclusivity when it comes to dietary needs. #stlouispescatarianapproved for sure and very friendly to gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian, and other dietary preferences.
We sampled the entire fall menu, and it was a delightful combination of flavors. The ingredients were clearly crafted with care, and the result was tasty and satisfying.
The “why” behind Ukraft is clear – they aim to provide a healthier alternative using fresh ingredients crafted from scratch. It’s evident in the taste and quality of the food they serve.
The convenience of ordering through dine-in, pick-up, delivery, or even catering, including their Food Truck for private events, is a great offering.
Ukraft’s presence with three locations in Downtown, Clayton, and Chesterfield makes it accessible to a wide audience. And for coffee lovers, their coffee club is a fantastic addition. It’s a place where you can not only enjoy delicious and healthy food but also appreciate the thought and dedication that goes into each dish.
Excellent food, clearly marked menu with MANY gluten free options! Very willing to work with you and adapt items as needed. Great service and beautiful patio!
Wow! Everything and everyone was fabulous! The calzones were delicious! And the Goias special of the month was a hit! And now to top it off, gluten free as well! I can’t say enough! Well done Sauce on the Side!!!
Excellent authentic Italian food plus some fun shopping, in a casual setting. Provel cheese can be purchased here! And T-Ravs to take with me back to Texas! Gluten free pasta are available to substitute for any of the dishes, & I noticed some GF pasta options in the freezer section, too! (To take home). Plenty of tables in an open space.
Love the food and atmosphere! So warm and cozy inside. The pizzas are worth the price! Don't love the bread they serve and wish they had a gluten-free pasta option. Service is okay... people don't particularly seem happy to work there.
This was one of the best dining experiences my wife and I have had in a long time! We are big on customer service and attention to detail and they are top notch. Not only was it a beautiful setting for one of our rare date nights but the service was great. Mike the manager even stopped by to say hello, introduce himself and check on our experience!
Another great thing is that they have a wide variety of gluten free options, even bread for the starter.
All in all it's a great restaurant and a wonderful spot for a special occasion or a romantic date night.
We stopped in for dinner after hearing good things. We were very pleasantly surprised. The staff was nice and super friendly but it was the food that stole the show. I had the bourbon glazed pork chops and my wife had the filet mignon. Both were outstanding and they were able to work with my wife’s gluten allergy! Pricing is mid to high but this is gourmet, not Applebees and it’s worth it.
Big thank you to Kylie and Brendon who were so great at helping me identify which foods were celiac friendly. Best service for celiac needs I have had anywhere. Thank you!
