Ordered takeout on Uber eats and requested an order of the gluten free option for Fettuccini Alfredo and an order of the normal Fettuccini Alfredo. I paid extra to get the gluten free noodles. When the food arrived both dishes looked identical and I realized I was given pasta with gluten. After calling the restaurant, they said they do not offer gluten free fettuccine noodles. The receipt ticket the restaurant printed out for the food also contained the gluten free modification for one of the Alfredo orders.
This ramen shop stands out for its thoughtfully prepared gluten-free options, including a unique tofu-based ramen with a texture reminiscent of sweet potato noodles. The careful kitchen practices ensure separate preparation of gluten-free noodles and tamari, catering well to those with Celiac Disease. The bright, airy atmosphere with an open kitchen and punk rock soundtrack creates an intimate setting that complements the flavorful, accommodating menu.

The service was excellent. I was practically the only person there. The staff was friendly. The atmosphere was not warm. But it's a cold blustery day and the door was a little drafty. It'd be nice if there was some kind of heat source inside here to make it feel cozy. I know that's difficult with an open kitchen because it might be an overheating for the cooks. In terms of the ramen itself, I have to say that I did not have the authentic noodles and had their gluten-free version. Their gluten free version was made out of tofu, which I'm not crazy about on principal, but it actually had quite a good and interesting texture. Kind of reminiscent of sweet potato noodles without the transparency. Their broth was tasty but vinegary. It did not have a tremendous amount of depth. It wasn't rich in the way of fatty thickness or so on. I had the g-speciall ramen. I assume they didn't add sesame paste and that was one of the factors. But I didn't feel like it was a long steeping of a lot of different meat richness & minerality making up this broth. Perhaps I ordered the wrong broth?
Definitely on the upper end of price for ramen in Portland.
