First time visit last night. My wife is always looking for gluten-free options when we visit the Newport area. Everything was fresh and delicious. We had the yellow curry with chicken, chicken and shrimp pad Thai, chicken satay, and fresh rolls. Some of the best Thai we've ever had!
The restaurant is clean, good atmosphere, unassuming from the outside, and the service was great - friendly and welcoming from start to finish. Highly recommend! We live over a half hour away and we plan on returning anytime we come to Middletown and Newport.
I love this market! It has a gluten-free snack section and so many fresh and delicious choices. I picked up a RTG salad that was next level! It had burratta avocado, and I added chicken for more protein.very fresh ingredients hubby had a fabulous turkey sandwich with truffle potatoe chips

The service was horrible that evening.
My wife has a gluten allergy, she informed them. She was asked to validate her clam by answering more questions.
They did not do the standard change over, seen in other locations when informed of an allergy.
When asking for Chips and Quac was told it was close to closing they were not making any more. They still had 3 hours and 15 minutes until closing, according to posted hours. She was also charged for sour cream. She did not order extra, just ask to put it on the side.
They could not give her change from the purchase (did not have any) Could not provide her a printed receipt (They don’t have Receipt paper.) This location was not ready for business. updated note: corporate reached out to me and asked me to contact them about my experience. I did in less than 24 hours. So I shared the same information on their own website, and corporate never contacted me.
My partner has never been glutened here. It’s always a safe choice getting a wrap for the beach just make sure you don’t get anything that has breaded ingredients of course. I don’t think they offer gf bread but I could be very wrong.
My daughter, her friend, and I enjoyed lunch here a few days ago. Two of the three of us are seriously gluten-free diners. The staff took good care of the orders to avoid any gluten ingredients or any cross contamination. The Find Me Gluten Free site says they have a gluten free menu. I suppose they do, but it's not printed or posted. You have to ask what you can safely eat if you are a GF diner. The answer is "nearly everything". One of us had beef shawarma, one had chicken shawarma, and the third had chicken fingers and fries. (You can take a person to a Middle Eastern restaurant but you cannot prevent him/her from eating Chicken Fingers. (Sigh.)) The bill was reasonable (about $10/person), and the food was very tasty. The portions are BIG; I couldn't even finish mine. All in all I enjoyed my visit very much and look forward to visiting again when I am in the area.
My wife and I came to eat in and got pizzas with 2 friends who had been here before after visiting Brenton point state park. I must say all 4 of us loved the dough. Thin yet very chewy and delicious. Sause was excellent and my wife was pleased that they had gluten free pizza. This is a great pizza place.
Best Thai on the island! Got the pineapple fried rice and my husband the pad kee mao. Both were delicious and the service was great! Very accommodating and they have expert knowledge of the menu to help with dietary restrictions (vegan, gluten free)
Found this place after doing the cliff walk, food is fabulous , portions are generous and many gluten free options. Tacos were stuffed and flavourful! Will definitely be back.
The best awful-awfuls (milkshakes) money can buy. Their dine-in menu is well priced, with gluten free/vegan options. And the staff is always so kind and accommodating. An absolute must-stop for anyone visiting Newport for the first time or the hundredth.
Great standby, especially if there are allergies, like gluten. Nice menu selection, plenty of choices. The food was very good, too. I had a steak that was cooked perfectly med rare. The chicken parm looked and was delish. Not too busy, but waitress forgot to mention drink special-$1 margs. Call button didn't get anyone's attention for over 10 minutes, and two orders had wrong sides, which we kept and ate. Not enough to freak about, drink was great when I finally got it, and all the food was delicious. Waitress was very nice. Would go back again!
Cozy & friendly eatery w great service. Kitchen can accommodate gluten free. Highly recommend the delicious Greek & Beet salads. Long list of entrees. Classic faves as well as unexpected dishes. Chicken entrees - parmagiana, marsala, and one w a spiced cream sauce served over biscuits all very good. Patio dining first come first serve. Some may find indoor seating too close for comfort when crowded. Restaurant fills quickly & remains busy. Recommend arriving early. Restaurant opens 4:30.
Went to Johnny’s on our first night in Middleton. The restaurant was almost empty and we were seated promptly. I am just starting my gluten-free journey (as recommended by my doctor) and asked about gluten-free options. The waitresses response was to let her know what to remove from the dish and she’d let the chef know. Not at all confidence inspiring but due to the late hour (9pm) and just starting my new diet, we decided to dine there regardless.
The food was relatively inexpensive and delicious. My husband enjoyed scallops and risotto. I had the filet prepared medium. They did a great job of cooking to the correct temperature and everything was great except for the gravy the poured over the steak (completely unnecessary).
Service was meh. The waitress went between overly friendly to ignoring us at times.
Overall, it was a good meal, in a pretty nice place.
Love the gluten free Hawaiian pizza. Comes in one size as does most gluten free pizza elsewhere but its good for 2 meals for me. The owner is very kind and truly cares about his product. You can tell he uses quality ingredients and has excellent quality control.
