We enjoyed a wonderful early dinner here after arriving from Tokyo, which let us beat the dinner rush. The ladies were incredibly friendly and, even though their English was limited, we used Perplexity/ChatGPT to help us communicate beyond the basics. The chef’s food truly lived up to all the glowing reviews—everything was delicious! As someone who is gluten-free, I appreciated how easy it was to order. I brought my own tamari packets and had no issues at all. The main dining area features traditional seating, but since my husband isn’t very flexible, the staff kindly provided a low chair for him instead of the kneeling cushions. It was our first time trying yuba, and we loved it so much that we ordered extra to take with us. We’ll definitely be coming back during our stay!

The place is traditional and very beautiful. I am celiac and not being able to eat gluten, I was worried that I would not be able to eat anything on my excursion to Nikko. However, I was able to do it because I was able to order a tray of sashimi and they prepared rice without vinegar in addition to bringing gluten-free soy. The staff was very attentive and helped me at all times. The food is very good and I recommend it. I hope it helps future celiacs.
