Update:
Thank you for your new response and the effort to respond.
We would like to emphasize once again that we also find it important to deal with situations in a proper manner. That is why we have proposed a different solution ourselves several times, but unfortunately you could not agree with it. Offering a free dinner as a gesture is indeed a common solution in the catering industry - we agree with that.
At the same time, as a guest you hope that they will think along with you at the time itself, so that you feel taken seriously. Moreover, my girlfriend would of course not come to dine alone, and once trust has been damaged, it becomes difficult to come back with a good feeling.
Unfortunately, we have experienced situations elsewhere more often in the meantime where something also went wrong, but where they came up with a suitable solution on the spot. That gives confidence and makes you come back. In this case, unfortunately, we experienced it differently.
Nevertheless, I appreciate your feedback, and I wish you all the best and we hope that you have learned from it.
Update:
In response to your counter-message, we were not given a superior but one offer. And that is that my girlfriend can come and eat for free. You understand that this offer is not realistic, because then you still earn extra because I eat with you. A financial compensation (with the bill) would have been more appropriate.
What should have been a nice evening and birthday with my family, went wrong.
When we made our reservation, we clearly indicated that my girlfriend has multiple allergies: no gluten, milk, onion and pork. Upon arrival, we clearly communicated this to the employee again. In consultation, a dish was suggested that would not contain these allergens. Nevertheless, my girlfriend developed serious complaints immediately after eating: nausea, stomach ache and had to go to the toilet several times.
That was the signal for us that something had gone seriously wrong. What makes it extra poignant: an employee noticed that she went to the toilet so often, but did not ask if everything was okay. When I filed a complaint immediately afterwards, I did not receive a clear answer, only vagueness. I did not feel taken seriously. I was asked to write down my phone number so that I would be called back later without any immediate action being taken and asked the kitchen what went wrong. But we were able to pay the full bill. Outrageous.
I was called the next day, but I missed the call. When I called back, no answer. Then I got an app asking if I was available a day later, because the gentleman had a day off. This also indicates that the complaint is not being taken seriously. It was eventually made clear that my girlfriend had eaten pork, which resulted in everything going wrong. We were very shocked by this because an employee told us that that was not an option. Eventually, a compensation was offered: my girlfriend could come and eat for free. As if that would do her any good – after all, she is not going alone.
An apology and a reasonable discount on the bill would have been more appropriate. But above all: take allergies seriously. We did not feel heard or helped at all. If you have food allergies, I would definitely not recommend this restaurant.
