🌟 **Review of the AOR Restaurant in Riquewihr** 🌟
If you are looking for a unique and refined culinary experience, you cannot miss the AOR restaurant in Riquewihr! Located in an elegant and chic environment, this venue is enriched with sculptures and works of art, some of which are also for sale. Creative details, like vinyl record-shaped chargers with "AOR" written on them and Elton John-themed coasters, make the atmosphere even more charming.
We were warmly welcomed by Sabine and Serge Burckel, a close-knit couple who have run the restaurant since it opened three years ago. Serge, the talented chef, adapted the menu to my gluten and lactose intolerances, offering us a four-course gastronomic journey, each dish a journey of indescribable flavours.
We started with some delicious Amous bouche, accompanied by a glass of Gewurztraminer, a fruity wine with an enveloping taste. The first course was a tuna tartare flavored with orange and spices, followed by a refined soup with courgettes, broccoli, goji berries and frog leg meat, simply delicious.
The main course included a rare fish, Legine Australe, wrapped in a banana leaf parcel, and a grilled quail served on a bed of vegetables with a unique sauce. The desserts, prepared as a surprise, completed the experience: I enjoyed a meringue on cherry jam with pumpkin cream, while my husband savored fried dates with a particular mousse.
Each course was accompanied by an excellent Pinot Noir from Alsace and, to conclude, an espresso served with a mini tiramisu to be enjoyed in a single bite.
The atmosphere of the restaurant is enchanting, and the surprise menu made the experience even more exciting. The owners are extremely nice and Serge explains each dish with passion, making everything even more special.
I highly recommend trying the particular, delicious and intriguing cuisine of the AOR if you find yourself visiting this splendid town, inspiration for the Disney film "Beauty and the Beast". You won't regret it! 🍽️✨
