The Abbey Tavern

I brought my family to this restaurant as I go there a few times a year because two of us are celiac and it isn’t safe in most places to eat out. I usually eat here because of my celiac disease as I was confidant that it was celiac friendly and didn’t have to worry about cross contamination and they cater for celiacs but the last time I was there I was told that the chips , wings and chicken was not gluten free because they were cooked in the same oil and fryer as the rest of the gluten food. I found this very disappointing and can’t understand why this has changed. I will not be returning as it is unsafe as a celiac to eat here. Very disappointed

Abbey is my go-to place for dinner or drinks! Best atmosphere, staff and food - I have eaten more than half the dishes there and all good as well as available gluten free! I love fish, my wife doesn't, my daughter is vegetarian and her husband a steak guy. Great Guinness and drinks. What pulls it all together is Ms. Nessa who developed and manages a great staff.

Always a great experience here. A lovely restaurant. They have a lot of gluten free items on the menu, with separate fryers, important for Coeliacs like myself. I'd highly recommend!
